Oxbow is so lush with old growth forests. The playground is very nice and big. The campsites are very private and you frequently get deer hanging out with you. Great trails throughout. The river has a nice beach, but the undertow doesn’t make it suitable for swimming. It looks calm on the top but is not underneath. Cell service is non-existent. You have to drive to the entrance in order to get service.
The scenery and the placid, warm lake, make this my favorite place to camp in Oregon. The campsites can be very uneven for tents, but we’ve always made it work. The lake is never crowded and by using the trail that goes around the lake you can basically have your own private beach anywhere. The water is surprisingly warm. Can be very cold at night. Cell service is non-existent.
Although our campsite was large, there was absolutely no privacy. It was as if we were camping in a field. The site was grassy and clean.
The lake has absolutely no shade, so bring an umbrella.
The pool was excellent! Skip the lake and enjoy the pool.
Very flat and ideal for bike riding.
Overall, just ok…wouldn’t go back. Nothing to do besides swim.
