Awesome Quiet Getaway

Best place to camp in Estes Park/Northern Colorado! Wooded sites mean privacy from your neighbors and shade during the day. Vault toilets are very clean, well kept. Staff and Rangers are very friendly and helpful, very knowledgeable about the area. Other reviews mention only 3.2 alcohol, but that rule has changed! ;) Great Hiking and Views, we watched the fireworks for 4th of July in Estes from one of the trails. Large bear boxes fit 2+ coolers. It was full for the holiday week/end, but staff mentioned that there's usually a lot of availability during the week. Have stayed in the cabins in years past, they are nice with gas fireplace for heat, and gas cookers in the cabin. No bedding, but beds are large and soft.

Gorgeous sunsets, so close to Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park. Hidden Gem in a busy tourist town!!

Best place to stay in the park!

Close to the store, visitor center, and tours. Great location, clean sites, everything we needed. Bathrooms were exceptional!! Best ones we've stayed in!! Would have been nice to have a utility sink to wash dishes, I hated dumping my wash water down those sparkling toilets!! lol

Great sites, lots closeby

Had a great stop at this campground! Loved how close it was to the Cades Cove Road to tour for the downtime. Took a while to get into and out of though. Long and windy road to get to the area.

Clean, Efficient, Bear-Proof, Amazing!

Loved this campground, and so did my kids! Winding through the trees on the little trails to get to the bathroom/shower, running up and down the hills, playing with all the caterpillars they could find! It was a heaven for them! Loved that there was a Bear Box at the site, and bear proof trashcans so nearby - no driving to the entrance of the campground to find the dumpster! Wish we could have stayed and done some of the nearby hiking! will have to make a second trip here!

Great little hideaway!

Loved this campground! Great level tent pads, lots of trees for shade, rhododendrons galore! Great trees for Hammock camping!! Only downside was it Poured on us, but the campground doesn't control mother nature! Weather made the hike to Linville Falls nearly unbearable - but the view when we got there . . . AMAZING!!!! Would love to stay here again!

Lovely!! Wish I could have stayed longer

We stayed here one night passing through on our 3 week trip of SHEN NP, Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smoky Mountains NP. So much was accessible from this location I wish we would have stayed in this area longer! The sites were the perfect size, campground was quiet and not too busy despite it being a Friday night. Will definitely book here again on our next trip through!

Quiet, remote, rustic charm

Cute little Mountain Campground. Tucked into the hillside, and only about 4 other campers while we were there, so it really felt like we had backpacked to the backcountry, when really we just drove up and set up the tent! Bathrooms were running water, but no showers and could use some updating (broken tiles, latches on doors, etc.) but all cosmetic. Definitely not the worst we saw on our 3 week trip, and the quiet greenness of the sites made up for it!

Nice Clean, busy

Nice campground! Very busy for a Wednesday night, probably due to the National Park. Still worth it!

Potential, but Poor Upkeep

A former KOA Campground, this place has everything you could need! Problem is apparently nothing has been kept up since it dropped the KOA from the name. Pool not too shabby. Minigolf - covered in leaves and growing moss/mildew/who knows what? Showers - Moldy, doors warped from moisture, CRAZY SMALL!!(not to mention the automatic lights only stay on for 2 min, and you have to get out of the shower in the dark windowless room and jump around to reactivate the beat up motion sensor!) We stayed in a tent site, and at check in they told us to go the opposite way on the one way road to get to our site near the exit. After driving the correct route one day I know why - the road had been rutted and washed away in MANY places. Our site had electrical hookups, but it was almost too scary to plug anything in. Moss or Mildew was growing on EVERYTHING in this campground. Coming from Colorado where everything is dry I thought this might just be a normal thing for the area, especially since I knew there had been lots of rain that spring, but after travelling further on our vacation (3 weeks on the Blue Ridge Parkway, NC, and TN) I found this to be the absolute WORST campground we stayed in BY FAR!! It is in desperate need of a good powerwashing! Half the washers/dryers in the laundry area didn't work. I didn't even want to wash my dishes in the utility sink because they were better off with crusty food on them! I will not stay here again without Proof the place has been cleaned up!
