Beautiful campground

This is a beautiful campground! The sites are private (mostly… Some are closer/more open than others). Site 12 was a nice site, set back from the road with room for two tents and lots of privacy. I could hear owls hooting at night and elk bugling in the morning. it was fantastic! During daytime hours there's a lot of road noise, but it dies down significantly at night and was super quiet until about 6:00 a.m. There is still no water available and the pit toilets are closed. They have Honey buckets to use however. I only gave it 4 stars because $29/ night is pretty steep for a campground with no water and port-a-potties.

Private & Peaceful.

Our campsite #12 had a little path to it, it was very green full of trees all around making us super private even with other sites nearby. Enough space for 2 tents. Came with a table & fire pit. Bathroom were a short walk away. Make sure to download the map just in case. Very quiet  it was an amazing night.

Absolute Beauty!

Monte Cristo Campground is absolutely beautiful! The campground is surrounded by majestic Aspen, Pine and other trees. The loops that connect the campground are paved by asphalt (surprisingly not dirt) and can be very tight if you have an RV or trailer longer than 25' long. There are two large group sites in Loop C which can accommodate larger groups with ample parking. There are several potable water hydrants throughout the campground which are clearly marked. There are also plenty of vaulted restrooms spread throughout. The sites are spread out nicely apart where everyone can recreate their own way. The campground is around 8700' elevation so the days were in the upper 60's and the overnights were in the lower 40's. IMO, it was perfect weather. Shorts and T's during the day and sweats or long pants and a cozy sweater next to the campfire at night. There are also easily accessible hiking trails connecting from the campground. ATV/UTV trails are plentiful nearby as well as fishing and swimming. Highly recommend this campground. Best camping this year yet!

Forest Wonderland

I took my daughter to this campground just to day camp and hang hammocks. It was a perfect day to do so. The temp was 76 when we got there and it was the right day to get out of the heat and relax. No insects, no cell service, and lots of shade (In the spot we were in)

Loved Every Second!

This campground is BEAUTIFUL. Generous amount of trees so plenty of shade during the day. The site we stayed at (#8) kind of dipped down below the road so it was very private. There were two different spots to put a tent. Picnic table, fire ring, and place to grill were included. No drinking water provided, so take your own.

Not bad

Came here as a last minute suggestion for Cotopaxi. It was great! We had 5 people and two tents! Just make sure you drive slow when coming in, you could miss it!
