Riley Creek Campground is a fairly wooded campground, with some screening between sites whenever possible. Most of the campground sites are open to either tent campers or vehicles / RVs. The proximity of Highway 3 means there is occasional traffic noise, but also means campers have all the conveniences and amenities of the park entrance area, and businesses outside the park, close at hand. Trails leading from the campground connect to the Denali Visitor Center, which is the central hub of trails in the entrance area.

Denali National Park & Preserve, Alaska

Teklanika River Campground in Denali National Park is a gem for those looking to immerse themselves in the Alaskan wilderness. Nestled between the foothills and the banks of the braided Teklanika River, this campground offers a unique experience deep within the park. It's open from May 20 to mid-September, making it a prime spot for summer adventures.

The campground features medium-sized sites, some of which are back-in and others pull-through. Each site comes equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, perfect for those evening campfires. Fresh potable water is available, and the vault-style toilets are well-maintained. However, there are no electrical hookups, so if you're bringing an RV, consider packing solar panels to keep your systems running.

One of the standout aspects of Teklanika River Campground is its location. Being so far into the park reduces travel time to other parts of Denali, and the scenery is nothing short of breathtaking. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so arriving early can give you a better selection of sites.

For those planning to explore further into the park, purchasing a "Tek" bus pass is essential. This pass allows unlimited hop-on/hop-off access along the park road, making it easy to explore different areas without the hassle of driving. The buses can even accommodate bikes, so you can ride one way and bus back.

Nearby Healy, about 15 miles from the park entrance, is the best place to stock up on groceries and supplies. The Three Bears store offers a wide selection and better prices than you'll find closer to the park.

Overall, Teklanika River Campground offers a fantastic base for exploring Denali National Park, with its stunning natural beauty and convenient amenities. Whether you're hiking, biking, or just soaking in the views, this campground provides an unforgettable Alaskan experience.
