We were sort of passing through and wanted to do the Sand Dunes, so we pulled the camper up the hill a bit. No frills of course, but honestly not bad at all. Plenty of room and privacy.
This place is beautiful. The camp is out of Carbondale, but still close. If you simply turn left out of the driveway you are engulfed in nature until the road ends. Just perfect.
There is absolutely zero cell service (for ATT anyways) and it’s perfect. There are like 20 sites with electricity that are maybe 50 meters from the river, and there’s a great pool to fish in right at the beach. All that and you’re like a half hour from Yellowstone. Just a total winner here.
Needed to be back on the grid for a few days and this is a great place to do it. Fast internet, nice spots, and pretty empty this time of year. Very worth it.
This place is great. No hookups so be ready for that, but you’re right in the river, it gets sun right away in the morning, and it’s only $12/night with a MT fishing license.
We stayed the first and last nights in the free sites above the marina/campground. It’s quite pretty around Canyon Ferry Lake, and being able to stay for free is great.
We stayed a night in the main campground to dump, charge, and fill. Strong power, good water, and quiet. It’s a good spot. No frills, especially post-Labor Day, but it works.
It’s definitely more of a place to stop than a place to spend a few days or more.
