I found this campground via The Dyrt, looking for a site to pitch my tent during a busy weekend. This place is great if you motorcycle camp like me. Clean showers and toilets, it comes with a full kitchen with some free basic staples and indoor relax area. Outside are a grill, pizza oven and more stoves.
The tent sites itself are all you need. Picknick table, fire ring and leveled sand patch for the tent.
The location is a bit outside town and along a busy road, but that didn’t bother me.
The campground is right of the west entrance of Yosemite which is a good location. All sites have the regular stuff such as fire rings and picknick tables. However, a lot of the sites are sloped. My site in particular had no leveled surface for a tent. More sites seem to have this.
Even for vans and campers it seems to be tricky.
I passed this place on Labor Day weekend and decided to stay. They officially don’t have tent sites but had some grassy area where I could pitch my tent anyway. That did mean there were no picnic tables or fire rings for me but the RV sites did have them.
The bathroom/showers were small but clean.
The bar/restaurant serves good food and the staff and locals were very friendly and offered all kinds of suggestions for my trip
I stopped for a bite to eat at the bar/restaurant but decided to camp here for a night. The campground is mainly focused on RVs but there is space enough for tents in an area with trees. There was plenty of space even though it was Labor Day weekend.
The showers/toilets for the men were broken so the lady showers/bathrooms were shared. They were clean.
The restaurant and bar are worth a visit even if you don’t camp. The burger was the best I had in a long time and the place is frequented by locals. The place was clearly understaffed but they were friendly and helpful.
Would stay again
I was lucky to find one of the sites that did not require a reservation available (only 2 tent sites are available this way). There is no reception here so quickly making an online reservation is not an option.
This campground has spacious sites for tents. I stayed on one of the sites on the ledge just above the water. The toilets are clean and the campground host is a great guy.
At 32.25 dollars it is definitely not the cheapest state park, but the location makes it worth it.
