Unique River and Trail Access Campground

Two hour float trips on the North Fork Maquoketa River are available directly from the campground. There is a mix of permanent and temporary campers. The tent sites, nearest the river, are well spaced with flush toilets. Apparently there are also good trails, as many of the campers have ATV’s parked at their sites. The shower house, under the office, was spacious and clean.

Not a Campground

The name is no longer White Buffalo. RD RV Park is not really setup for overnight campers. There are no showers, toilet or water. This facility is for long term guests that are fully self contained. The owner was friendly enough, although we only spoke on the phone. I put a $30 check in a drop box, plugged into the electric and slept there.

Ambitiously Priced

The staff was friendly and helpful checking in. We arrived without a reservation. We were allowed to got check out the site and electric before paying. The electrical at site 302 was a good new 50 amp service. The bathroom/ shower house was clean and heated. There were plenty of open sites and no one was on either side of us. Had the grounds been full, the adjoining campers would have been closer than I like. We were able to park our electric car/ camper on the grass so we could plug it in. The gravel roads throughout were dusty. I thought $47 for the night was a little steep. The site served the purpose, but I wouldn't want to be there on a busy weekend.

Confused with wrong website

This campground is a family friendly place and has nothing to do with “My Whispering Oaks.org”. A few of the seasonal residents keep their sites cluttered. The campground overall is very nice. They are in the process of adding additional pull thru sites. We enjoyed two overnight stays, charging our car as we slept.

Immaculate Grounds

We arrived after the office had closed, in the middle of a thunderstorm. They had welcome packets, on the large porch, next to the office, explaining the self check in and night drop box for payment. A board on the wall showed what sites we could use. The packet gave us a code to the shower house, that was the cleanest and best laid out I had ever seen. We were concerned about being car campers (bed in our Tesla Model Y). I met the maintenance man in the morning. He was friendly and said no problem. Given the convenient location and quality of the park, the $40 we spent was a bargain.

Convenient, Clean and Friendly

This campground appears to be a one off family owned business. The owners are very welcoming. Most campers appear to be seasonal. There were plenty of open sites with electrical hook ups. Some 30 amp, but more 50 amp, which is just what we needed to charge our Tesla Model Y while we slept inside. There is only one small bathroom/ each for men and women. They were clean and crowding wasn’t an issue, the Saturday night we stayed
