Following the directions I drove to the coordinates nothing and came to a junction. I would have continued on but between me and the the other road was a sinkhole. I honestly don’t think a 4X4 would have made it. Before I got there I had already turned off my ESC. My right is a 21 ft Promaster 3500 with OHV lift and was able to turn around but not without doubt.
Unbelievable views! I was extremely lucky that nobody had taken it. There was a ton of trash, some for a long time and perhaps nobody else would stay here because of it. In maybe a half hour I picked up two bags and now can enjoy everything around me.
Roads are very good but they have done lots of work all over. It looks like a work in progress. Very clean and safe. No fantastic views but next time there might be. As I said, I have been spoiled. Plenty of room for a couple of “As” here and I saw several other places. Fire ring.
Go down Box Bar road and check it out. Toilet and dumpster is there. I found it very small and ok for an overnight. I went back up to the road, went left and went straight… dead end with zero. Went past Box Bar entrance and took the first left and found a much better place.
Just incredible! A fairly rough road but if it were easy everyone would be here. 4 WD not necessary. When I got here + - 5:30 there were 4 or 5 families here enjoying the lake. At sundown they left. Maybe 6 camping folks but absolutely quite. Sunset was outrageous. If you zoom in on the satellite and see my blue dot… my rig should be in about 10 ft of water. Gives another perspective on the water crunch. Wondering how long ago the pic was shot.
This is a great option if the weapons bother you. Slow and gentle as always and you will have no problem. The site I chose didn’t have a fire ring but will be one when I leave. As I was scrounging around for rocks I stumbled on a really neat area where someone built a “fenced in area”, under a tree. See the video. Please realize I am technically challenged and elocution is not a strong suit either.
Really neat spot. Have been here two days so far and so far only two people on horseback on the road. Road should be ok, just take your time. Plenty of firewood and a nice “fire ring”..
Beautiful, although not much shade but cooler I had no problem on roads with a Promaster. This lake currently holds the WORLD record Lake Trout at 53 lbs 15 oz
I drove all the way through the National Forest. I found a great spot, tucked in with plenty of shade and privacy.

Once you get to the top there are plenty of great options with outstanding views. July day temps in the low 80s. Night were refreshing.
The road from the Fair View side was much better, with a trailer that’s how I would tackle it. Beautiful sites pop out almost immediately and continue at almost every turn.
