Not my favorite

We went with friends and picked this site because it s close to LA and has electric hook up for their RV. The campsites are way too close to each other? While luckily it did feel relatively private, it definitely felt very crammed. There are flush toilets, but they are not the cleanest and didn’t always flush properly. There s plenty of water source for dishes, including a big sink, as well as coin operated showers and a small laundry area. There’s very little shade though, and if you go on a hot weekend, like we did be prepared to sweat! There is the lake which can be refreshing, but sadly, because of the drought the level was very low and the mud and slime made it somewhat unappealing. There is, however a small convenience store at the dock as well as boat rentals, should you want to be a bit more adventurous. Also there’s no cell service, unless you are with AT&T, so plan accordingly.

Clean, simple campground.

The campground is definitely clean and well maintained, but honestly there s not much to do. There s a few hiking trails, but the markings could be better. We went with a group. Some of the campsites that are supposedly for up to 2 tents are a bit tight, such was ours, but luckily our site mates canceled so we had just the one tent, which pretty much took up all the space. It is dog friendly, which is great. Cell service is decent, but if you are counting on use of the supposed WiFi, you’ll be out of luck;). The rangers do regular rounds to remind you of curfew and make sure the fire is completely out by 11. All in all it was a nice site, but probably won’t be visiting it again.

Creekside paradise

Well maintained campsite. I was at site 46, full shade but luckily I had a small tent because I m not sure how a bigger or even two tents would have fit there. The camp host was very friendly and giving tips on what to do around the campsite. Bathrooms were well maintained and relatively clean for pit toilets. There s poison oak, so be careful, as well as bugs that will eat you alive so be sure to have repellent and citronella candle handy. Quick and easy drive from LA. Will definitely be back.

Cute Campsite

Spent an overnight there, very well maintained, clean with drinking water, showers, flush toilets. And 1-2 trailheads leading out of the site. If you like camping but prefer a bit more “civilized” amenities, this site is perfect. Plenty of shade, respectful neighbors and regularly patrolled by the rangers. Very cute spot. Bit on the pricier side, but it makes sense with everything it has to offer.

Great for off roaders

Spent a weekend at crab flats. It s great if you are into off roading, in fact the last 1+ or so leading into the campsite is all dirt rods. Plenty of trails and dirt roads at your OHV disposition. The campsite itself is very basic, there is running water but not potable. Not a lot to do at the site itself, but makes for a chill, low-key visit.

Stumbled upon this gem

Found it browsing campsites; what a beauty. Sitting alongside a creek, the camp is clean, quiet, the ranger is super friendly and knowledgeable of the area. There is no running water, and the pit toilets are definitely of the smellier side, but clean nevertheless. There is a bar right at the entrance of the campsite, as well as a small residential neighborhood. The site itself is a quick drive from LA, with easy access. Be mindful of the road leading into the camp, it is quite narrow, so drive carefully.
