Beachside campground

What a lovely spot! Walking miles on the beach on mild January days sometimes without seeing anyone else! Incredible shell collections. Campsites are big, lots of palm trees may limit some campsites for big rigs so speak to someone there when booking or use pull through sites. Sites do need more gravel, some are muddy. I didn’t use bathhouse. Short walk to beach. Great camp store, need to visit.

Neat and clean

We stayed 2 nights. It’s accessibility to Asheville is great, but the site itself is clean, with tidy grounds and a spotless bathroom (didn’t use showers). Plenty of places to walk and pet friendly. Great cell and internet service.

A solid campground

This campground is working hard to get respect. Neatly maintained. Very tidy grounds. I didn’t use showers or restrooms. Loved pet run area. Nature walk is good for stretching legs. My site B19 was close to neighbors but felt private between campers. Quiet hours respected. Very friendly staff. Yes, there is noise from Interstate 40 nearby but it didn’t bother us and they offer earplugs at the front desk. My stay was just what I needed.

Classic NC State park

We visited in April. Beautiful days hiking nearby, cold nights. Pet friendly. Pretty clean bath house. Visitors center nearby. Sites were mostly level, with gravel, fire pit, picnic table. Some were classically wooded, shady and some in the bright sun. Cute small town nearby.

Alongside NC Arboretum

We stayed in this NC state park and could not have liked it more. Great hosts, clean bathhouse. Small lake (ok for kids and dogs) but near Asheville, lots of hiking and backs up to the beautiful NC Arboretum with its miles of trails. Ours was electric only, full hookups nearby. I also liked sites 10, 44, 48.
