Not Bad; New Ownership

This campground looked good on paper. Overall it wasn't bad but it was clear that the new owners are making some changes. The facilities are less than ideal. There was one toilet for women for 30+ campers. The two showers were dirty even after some men came to clean them on Monday (3 days after I arrived). The hosts were nice. The biggest challenge was that I stayed in the campground during the days instead of venturing out as many others did. This means I listened to the bobcat all day some days moving picnic tables and such. Then the mower came and mowed ALL day without break. The noise was less than ideal but I recognize it was important to prepare for the Memorial Day Weekend.

Amazing Way to Wake Up

I stayed at this place last minute. I arrived at 9:45 pm and the host saw me come in and greeted me. I asked about a spot to spend the night and she showed me to a great tent site. She said the river was just a few feet away so to watch where I walk. The bathrooms were clean as were the showers. The main area in the middle is for RVs but there are some great little tent sites on either side. One is up on a hill and the other is right on the river. I woke to the site of the sun rising just over the river. It was spectacular. I will certainly stay here again.

Four-inch Bugs!

So I paid for just one night and as I arrived there was no indication of where the hosts were. I knew my site so I drove to it and sure enough, it had my name and was reserved. I had already paid fees in advance so I figured if anybody needed me they would find me. The table and firepit were a distance from parking which normally would be good except that I have a truck tent and like to park closer. I got into the bed of the truck to begin setting up the tent when I noticed this 4-inch locus looking thing on my tailgate. I love nature but bugs creep me out. I quickly shut things down and got out of Dodge. It might be a nice enough park but I was already having nightmares of these big bugs all over my tent and truck.

Clean, Friendly Hosts, Lots of Amenities

Had a good time during my short stay in spite of the nearly constant rain. The bathrooms and showers were always clean. The bathroom even had heat which felt nice. There is a separate place to wash dishes that includes a trash bin for scraps and hot water. This looks to be a great place for families as there were lots of children running around having fun. The only downside is the phone service. It is listed as having phone service but that is not totally true. Most of the time I had no service or 1 bar. If I walked to the group site, I could manage to get two bars. This was important to me because I was still teaching (online) while camping. I hope to bring the rest of my family someday soon.
