I have been living here since March of 2024. I find it great, however as someone mentioned. It is Monthly, It is adults only, and only pets allowed are indoor cats, this does not bother me, as what I needed.
Management is great. They keep to themselves, as do most of the residents.
Also keep an open mind, as there are a lot of old vehicles and such about, but in no ways is this a junk yard. It is a quant little park with beautiful views.
This RV park resides in the middle of industrial businesses. Not many know it is there. The area around is not the greatest, but you cannot beat the prices. Have stayed over a year and a half.
Great place that I did a stop at on my way to Houston TX.
Nice area with concrete RV pads. Did not use any amenities but the lake had people fishing on it and the pool had a good amount of people.
Stayed at Gunter Hill Campground one night on my way to Houston, TX.
Sites were clean and well kept, the campground is large divided by a river.
Enjoyed the one day there.
My But… is the area is so large and the map I was given at check in (Note: Check in person was grumpy and made me feel like I was bothering him). This map does not tell you how to get from one side to another.
The guy that checked me in did not tell me anything except go straight down and take the loop to come back up to my drive through side. He had me going down the wrong side. I went into a turn around that was not very large only to get stuck, as I could not backup with my Jeep in tow. Luckily to park workers came and helped me disconnect my Jeep. Then I had one of them drive my Jeep and I followed to my campsite.
I probably would still be searching today how to get my site if not for them.
I give it 5 stars do to the to gentlemen that helped me and would have only given 3 or 4 stars do to the unwelcoming check-in.
I was lucky enough to be able to take over one of the 9 permanent spots in November 2021.
Not a single complaint from me. Nice view of pond (Can fish, catch and release) and large cookout area.
Call for prices, mine is below $400 a month.
Included:
50 AMP Hookups
City Water
Gray/Black Dump at each site
Cable TV
Internet
One note is there is no dumpster, but it is easy to just take your garbage to dump or a friend.
Weston Lakes is located at Fort Jackson, on the South Side of the Base.
It has a large recreation area with about 20 or 30 RV spots. I was in a spot that had the Hookups at opposite end of concrete pad and opposite side. I ended up buying an additional 20 ft. of dumping tubing ($60).
The area is very nice and somewhat quiet. But with all the other amenities there like boating, fishing, field sports, etc. they charge $35 a night. This is over 1K for a month with a three month maximum. You need to be either active or retired Military, which I was not. My Father was the Commander at Fort Jackson for 8+ years and he sponsored me so I could stay.
Once back in Columbia, SC after Thanksgiving I am moving to a park that is only $390 a month as I will be in Columbia for a while.
If money is no object then this would be a 4 star + rating. But not for me.
