This is a very busy campground, with RVers coming and going nearly daily. The sites are close to each other. Fortunately the site we had was shaded by trees during the hot days of July — half the sites have no trees, so beware of where you book. Good facilities and well-run for a very large operation. The best part was the location, being close to several beaches in the Old Orchard Beach area.
Located on a beautiful lake, this campground is hard to beat for both activities and a sense of calm. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Due to location, wifi signal is poor, and Verizon and T-Mobile are so so at different times of the day if you need to be connected. Canoes and kayaks can be rented to enjoy the water and scenery, while the crowds of Bar Harbor can be reached in slightly less than an hour.
While this is a large campground, requiring rules to be followed for everyone’s sake, it is in an excellent location. The sites are well-kept, and the management and office staff do a great job of keeping campers happy — except those who don’t like to follow rules, like parking 2 cars on a site that can only fit 1. I also really liked fellow campers, who were very respectful and friendly without having extreme elements like other campgrounds we’ve visited. This is a crowd that is on vacation rather than testing the strength of their poles with lights at night holding outsized flags. We stayed for 10 days, and loved having easy access to the beach, along with the smell and feel of the ocean. This is an RV gem!
