I am a bit mixed about this campground. Our spot was really incredible. Site 12 is right on the river which provides impressive sunrise and sunsets. The river is calm in the mornings and evenings with fish jumping. However, there are some downsides to the spot and the campground that cannot be ignored. 1) It is very close to the highway so you hear the cars all day. Site 12 is as far away as you can get from it plus it has a great view so helps offset the road noise. Other sites don't have the view so the road noise would be even more annoying. 2) The campground is right next to a public beach. The water was nice in the summer but the river does have a lot of seaweed floating in it. Site 12 also happens to be closest to the beach. The noise from the bench is not bad. However, everyone from the campground walks right next to your site on their way to the beach. Also, site 12 gets full sun from about noon to sunset. There is shade but the tent site and parking are in the sun.
LTDR - The view on the river here is a 5. The road noise and traffic from the beach goers pull this down to a 3 for me though. So I will give it a 4.
This loop in Gilmore is great. Paved roads and level camp spots. Lots of room between sites. Lots of great hikes to go on and peaceful.
My family stayed here in a simple cabin to enjoy some hiking in Glacier. It is very well maintained and the staff was very friendly. The restrooms were in great shape. Our kids loved the ice cream shop and were so excited to go get ice cream after our hikes. The pools are very nice. The Wifi is pretty good but you have to be close to the office to get a signal. One night when we were there they had a group come in and do a bird of prey show which was very enjoyable and a nice way to relax at the end of the day.
We look forward to going back and enjoy time here again.
This park has a lot of options. You can swim, boat, SUP, mountain bike, and hike. There are a few campaign areas. We stayed in Gilmore with a combination of tents and RVs there. The sites are nice and pretty well spaced out. The restrooms are well kept also. T-Mobile gets no coverage in the park. If you are going to swim at one of the bays while there get there early. In the peak of summer, the parking lot will fill up by 10 or 11 am.
The surrounding area is beautiful with lots of hikes to go on that have beautiful views. The campsite area was clean including the bathroom and showers. The water and electric hook-up all worked great (ReserveAmerica says site 49 does not have water but it does).
Site 49 is on the inside of the loop so it is crowded next to other sites. There are a few spots that would feel really cramped while others feel nice and open (Outside loop sites have more space). T-Mobile has no coverage here.
