We camped here during Thanksgiving. It's a county run campground so the employees were off during Thanksgiving so they gave us a key to the gate if we needed to leave when no-one was there. The campground is primarily designed for small campers but there are a few spots that would accommodate campers in the 40 foot range. Three are two loops, one for RVs and one for tent campers. The loop for RVs has a one way curvy road to the loop. The bathhouse isn't in the loop it is at the top of the hill. The site that is closest to the bathhouse is site 27 and it will accommodate large campers. The dump station isn't near the RV loop it is near the tent loop.
We've stayed at Reidsville Lake Campground twice this year so far. There are eight lakefront sites. The sites closer to the water are provided with power and water. The sites near the entrance have power, water and sewer hookup. Starting in July 2019 the campground will also have WiFi.
This campground has three loops. The lower loop is the most popular because it is down by the water and each of the sites have great views of the lake. Reservations have to be made well in advance for the lower loop sites. Lots of rain was in the forecast so several people cancelled their reservations allowing us to get one of the best spots on the lower loop. All the activity at this campground is around the lower loop. The sites in the lower loop are close to each other but the views make up for that.
This was our first trip to Poplar Point and our first trip in our new camper. There was a pond across from our campsite but we didn't catch anything. Our site was a level site and it was very peaceful during our stay.
The first thing we noticed was the plane traffic. During the week a plane flies overhead about every minute during the day. In my opinion the sites are too close to each other. During our stay the other campers were respectful we didn't have any issues with anyone. Our site is considered a moderate site in regard to elevation.
We have camped at Crooswinds several times and we have enjoyed each time. The plane traffic is not too bad. So far we have camped each time in the B loop and every spot we've had has been a good one. You can hear the traffic on highway 64 more in the B loop than in C loop.
