We spent 2 nights here with our Storyteller Mode LT RV nestled in the Uwharrie National Forest. The campsites do not offer a view of the water of Badin Lake, but it is nearby with a drive or hike. Many sites are available with electric hook-up, and drinking water is available at nearby locations. Many of the sites are not very level so choose carefully. The campground is very quiet and clean. The drive-in offers beautiful rolling countryside with low foothills. Nearby we took advantage of an off-road driver training course with OEX, Overland Experts.
We camped overnight making our way south. There are a number of sites right on the lakefront, so snag one of those if you can! Many of the sites offer good flat terrain, and electric hook-ups are available at many sites. Nice, shady and quiet, the campground is very clean. Pretty convenient to I-85. Be sure to go out near sunset to see the beautiful reflections in the lake waters! We will be back!
The north campground has much more shade and privacy than the south campground.
We enjoyed watching the bird life and being in easy walking distance to the beach itself. The camping area was quiet and clean even though very busy on a weekend. The beach itself was peaceful and lovely even on a somewhat rainy day. Traffic getting in and out of the park is pretty crazy, rushing by on a 4 lane road leading to Myrtle Beach. We enjoyed our 2 relaxing nights and look forward to a return trip sometime.
The dunes, sea oats, sands, lighthouse in background, perfect waves!! My husband spent hours body-surfing, and we explored the interesting patterns the winds had made in the beautiful sands. Its a remarkable spot. The campground is somewhat smaller than some, and with limited shade; our site was fairly level for a small rig, but the natural beauty of this island more than compensates! The North Beach access was in easy walking distance. The Camp Host was especially helpful when I thought I lost my keys. Our only complaint was heavy local traffic driving there for late afternoon check-in. Great adventure and we will be back!!
The lush tropical vegetation and nearby incredible beaches, trails and other facilities, plus the welcoming, professional staff make Hanna Park a GREAT experience. What an amazing asset for the City of Jacksonville! This was our 3rd visit, and we stayed 3 nights -- now we hope for more time on our next visit! The website is informative and includes good descriptions of each campsite to assist in making reservations. The campground is clean, quiet and relaxing. Our campsite was level, private and convenient. Be sure to stroll on the beaches at sunset!
Sebastian Inlet State Park near Melbourne, FL. We stayed for stopovers on way down and back from Miami area. Most campsites do not have water views but are just a short stroll away. Most sites have limited privacy but some have more vegetation buffer. The campgrounds were quiet, clean and pleasant. With a Northern and Southern section, this park offers several access points to the ocean beach, the inlet itself and the River. We were delighted to stroll the long beaches and watch the surfers, watch fishermen in the river in the morning and evening, and watch the many pelicans feeding from the bridge structure over the river. The swimming area behind the jetty on the north side creates an almost man-made tide pool which is perfect for swimming and for younger children to play in the shallows without waves or currents. We hope we can get reservations again!
This small campground was very full in middle of Florida winter season. While most sites appeared flat, there is not privacy between them and no shade in hot Florida sunshine. We were lucky with a quiet location in Site #3, and only 1 neighbor next to us. The only sites with open water views were in very tight and crowded section that was crowded with lots of big rigs. Park personnel were very gracious, helpful and accommodating. It was not convenient from I-95 for just a 1-night stopover, but we had a good night's sleep to refresh us for another day of driving! Fishermen and kayakers must love this location for easy access! Price was fairly steep compared to other local and state parks. We did enjoy the nearby beaches!

Our stay in Site #4 on February 25 in our 20' Mode LT was quiet and restful. The park has an interesting geomorphology, sitting atop cliffs overlooking the river below, and there are miles of hiking trails. The Campground Host was particularly helpful, checking us in when we arrived early. Unlike many state parks they offer their Senior Discount to out-of-state campers. The campground is very clean and sites are very large with gravel pads, but only 14 sites have hook-ups. Our stay was marred by heavy fire smoke from campfires penetrating our van. The distance from I-95 adds an extra hour to your travel if you are just planning a one-nite stopover, so we might not make the trek again.
With almost 300 sites this is a very busy Park. Its close to City of Jacksonville so gets a LOT of campers. The campground has very close-by access to miles of beautiful ocean-front beaches that we enjoyed fully! There are also lots of biking and hiking trails. Some sites are more level than others, and sizes vary as well. Also some sites have more privacy provided by the lush vegetation. (Park website has some description on each site to help with selection.) Access through the campground gate requires a special punch-in code so that adds a level of security.
We stopped overnight as a break from driving I-95, and the main negative was the distance and urban traffic to reach the Park. The campground has narrow 2-way access roads to the sites which must be a challenge for the big rigs.
We stayed in sites 026 and 174, on February 9 and February 23. Our nights were peaceful except for a heavy wind and rain storm.
We would stay again!
We stopped heading south and north along I-95 to and from Florida. Very easy off and on I-95. Plenty of available spaces in off-season. The campground is small and quiet. Camp Host was very helpful. Sites were spaced reasonably far apart but there is no privacy between. Not all sites have a water view, but most appeared fairly level. Not all sites have sewer access. Our only complaint was lots of smoke from campfires and grills. Would stay again.
