Great BLM camping about 20 mins from flaming gorge

This area is beautiful, not super close to water though. We bring our dogs everywhere and hope for shade and/or water. This place at least has good shade and nice open fields for dog play and yard games. It was about 20ish mins drive to flaming gorge area for a beach day!

Good campground

A good campground, but for a price. I prefer BLM camping even though there are less luxuries and amenities. Dogs are allowed on leash at the campground only, not on the beach. There are operators riding around on golf carts frequently throughout the day. The market provides foods and necessities including wood but it’s all pretty over priced. Overall we had a good time, the place is nice. Camp areas are all pretty close together, not very private.

Otter creek reservoir free camping

This was such a fun place! I was happy to find beach camping and for free! There was a fire pit made already and we had our own little area for the beach. There’s no toilets close by, it is primitive camping. There’s RV space but no hookups. Our dogs loved the area! The water is nice and clean. The beach area wasn’t maintained by any authorities so we found some broken glass from previous people who stayed in the area which was cleaned up so we had no injuries. Please camp responsibly in areas like this! :)

Great camping for those who wanna party

When you have a big group and you like to stay up late and have a good time and be loud while at lava hot springs, this is the place for you! There’s a toilet located here, bring your own TP though. The river is fun to jump in and hang out in! The trains come frequently and at times are pretty loud but it doesn’t bother our group. The camping is free and 100% worth it compared to the strict port neuf or koa campgrounds. TONS and TONS of space. It’s never been full when we go. There’s loads and loads of space. It’s only about 2 miles away from town so if you need to go to the bathroom, go to the store, or shop around or eat at a restaurant, it’s not far away at all! Our two dogs love all the free space as well! There isn’t much shade but there are shrubs all around near the river. So bring your shade tents!
