When I get the chance, over spring break and summer vacation, I head deeper into the hills past Pine Flat Lake to this gem of a camp ground. It's a gorgeous sight in the spring when we've had rain: poppies and other wildflowers blanket the hillsides of the mini valley surrounding the Kings River. Green Cabin Flat is the only one that requires a reservation. The grounds are great for a weekend excursion or a week-long nature break.
