Beautiful park at the right time of year

Very clean and scenic campground. Plenty of space between sites if you park away from the seafront. I personally wouldn’t want to be right by the ocean as it’s just a 5 min walk from the more peaceful sheltered sites. We had campsite 115 and were very happy with it. Close to bathrooms and easy access in and out. Lots to see in the area, and if you want the beach we’d recommend Port Aransas which is only about 30 mins away. That beach is dog friendly and nicer than the closer Rockport. The short ferry ride across is also fun and free. Dolphins alongside the ferry. The only negatives would be mosquitos and humidity. Both were manageable given when we went, but only just. I’d aim for early spring or late fall to try to minimize these.

Bluebonnets everywhere

Stayed in mid March, site 62. Nice site with lots of tree cover. Only downside was the multiple squirrels that drove our dogs nuts. Hiking trails are very well maintained, and there’s plenty variety in difficulty level / length. We’ve never seen so many wildflowers, especially bluebonnets. The display was stunning. Facilities at the park were very clean, and it really has everything that you need.

Scenic Hiking Paradise

Stayed for two November nights in the Live Oak campsite (site 328). Park was very well maintained. Bathrooms were clean albeit the one in Live Oak had no hot water. Not a big issue as the adjacent site bathroom was just as close for us. For our 22ft trailer the space was adequate, but would have been tight for a longer rig. A lot of the spaces at the various camping areas looked somewhat short, but for us it wasn’t an issue. Most sites seemed to have good shade and the trees provided nice privacy. All in all it was very peaceful, hiking trails were excellent, and the scenery is awesome.

Very well maintained, friendly, and peaceful

Check in was easy. They called that morning to confirm details in order to expedite the process. Site 20 was level and exceptionally tidy. They rake out the crushed granite after guests leave, and it looks pristine. Bathrooms, and all other buildings are fairly new and very nice. Everything was clean and tidy. Staff were all friendly. There were some nice shortish trails that worked well for our dogs. Can’t say enough good things about this park.
