Disaster Creek and Clarks Fork Trailheads

There is no dispersed camping on this road. Only trailheads leading into the Carson/Iceberg Wilderness. It is great for hiking or backpacking in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains. Stay at the campgrounds of either Sand Flat or Clarks Fork and do some day hikes.

Sand Flat off Clarks Fork rd

This is a dry camping with 68 spots. Mostly flat and good spacious spots. Some spots have more shade than others. Spots 1-52 are open to all trailers and tents. Spots 53-68 are all walk-in spots closer to the river with a few right on the river. There are potable water pump wells as well as vault toilets.

Small but quiet

Stayed here over and in this area for several years. The sites are good for small camper and more so tents. I believe there are only 10 sites total. No water and only a pit toilet. Plenty of forest service roads to Explorer.
