The Campground is located conveniently at the corner of I95 and the Washington DC Beltway I495. It is an especially good Campground to stay at if you are planning on visiting Washington DC. Personally, I would say that is a good Campground for Overnight or a Trip to DC. There is a generally good sense of community, which is lucky because of how close together the sites are. There is a Bus Stop right by the Entrance to the Campground that will get you into Washington DC if you don’t feel like driving. The Camp store is very well stocked with camping stuff, food, and beer. There is also plenty to do for the kids, like Tractor Ride through the Campground. We visited Cherry Hill Park Campground in a Class A Motorhome and while it was tight, we fit no problem.
The Virginia Beach KOA is a nice place to stay. Plenty of things to do every day. This is a newly renovated KOA, and they added a lot of new sites. Also a new pool with a lazy River. We stayed at a premium site which provided a fire ring, a picnic table, and 3 chairs on the paved site. The landscaping is very well kept. There are some sites that have plenty of shade, but a good amount of them don’t. If you are a family with kids, this is definitely a KOA for you to check out. They provide you with a schedule outlining all of the events they will be having that week. There was a day where a few food trucks visited, including our favorite, a Rita’s food truck. They had live music most nights, which is always a hit or miss, but still fun. They have a dog park for your furry friends. One of the best parts of this KOA is the bus service that runs from the campground to Virginia Beach proper. It even takes you to the VA Beach Aquarium, which is our favorite. The bus allows you to bring all your beach gear and runs well into the evening. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at this KOA and would definitely return.
Candy Hill is a small size campground. It has an exceptionally well stocked Camp Store. You can get Fresh Eggs from the Campground Chicken coop. Staff was accommodating and friendly. There marketing skills are pretty good. Crazy additional charges like site rental charges on top of the site rental charges?? Extra adult on holidays(if more than 2 adults per site). Wifi first 30 min free, after that$, faster wifi more$$….lol Would I choose to stay there for a week or longer- probably not. There is not much to do. You can bike around the hole campground in less than five minutes.
We stayed there for 5 Days. It's a quit Campground. I don't think that we would stay here for a whole week, since there is really nothing going on. Unless you like to hike a lot, then this would ideal. You will have a hard time to find a parking spot for your truck, since most sites are short. Don't Park on the grass, the Park Ranger will come to visit you.
We had 6 Verizon devices with us and they barely worked. Even with 1 to 3 signal bars. So forget streaming movies when it rains……
We arrived from the south and the roads can be a challenge with larger rigs. The roads are very narrow and there are a lot of turns. Oh did I mention Hills…..
It's not a bad state park for a couple of nights and you need to get away for a while
