Great camping and great stars

Great piece of dispersed camping. As said in other reviews here, you can camp just about anywhere in the wash/river bed. I’m not sure how often water flows through it if at all so check weather just to be safe. No bugs, great weather and beautiful hikes surround the campsites. Most vehicles can make it in, but the deeper you go the rougher the roads.

1st sites are the best

The first review on this campsite is fantastic! The directions take you right to the camping location. There are sites lining the river that can fit RVs. The dirt road is well maintained. It up Spanish fork canyon, and due to that the temperatures get quite cold at night, especially in the fall/winter.

Stunning but check the weather

Beautiful spot up in the Uinta National Forest. The only fee is the recreation day pass which costs about $5 for 3 days. That's just to park your car. The trailhead begins about 50 yards to the right of the info kiosk. You hike in about 1.5 miles and the lake is surrounded by camping sites. Many firepits exist around the area and are all within 100-200 yards of the lake. You can hike around the lake which is very scenic. Mountain weather changes quick and we got caught in snow with a sudden drop in temp. Gear worked well and it turned out great.  Make sure you sign the hiking log so rangers know you're out there. Can be found at the Wall Lake trail head. Cross over the little bridge at the lake and hike a little behind the trees to find some amazing camping spots!

Beautiful spot, level ground can be hard to find

This is a great free camping site on BLM land. It is right across from the Moosehorn campground and is very close to Mirror Lake. Also only 5min drive from the Bald Mountain hime which offers incredible sunsets. There are a number of sites in this area and requires going down a dirt road. RVs can access the majority of sites. There are preexisting firepits and small clearings where tents can go. The prime, level spots are the best. There are a number of other sites that still have fire pits, but it is hard to find level ground for tents. There are lots of trees for those who like hammocking. Services are about 30 min drive from this location. Pack your own water!

Canyon Camping

Great spot to camp! Use the site slips to reserve a site ($20). Each site has a fire ring, table, parking spots and space for at least 2 tents. There’s one dumpster which can be pretty far away depending on the spot you get. The restrooms are well maintained and don’t smell bad. Honestly the nicest camping bathrooms I’ve ever used. You are surrounded by the beautiful red rock on Moab. Close proximity to Canyonlands and Arches National Park. About 10-20min drive to gas station. Also close to the Colorado River and corona arch!

Crowded and windy

Not a bad site at all, just too many people and it was windy while we were there. Not sure if wind is always a problem but it made sleeping difficult. You can hear conversations in other campsites and the bathrooms were very smelly, like way worse than you expect a campsite bathroom to smell. Some sites are close to the highway too. Each spot has a table, parking space for 2 cars at least, a fire pit, and space for 2-3 tents. You are very close to mirror lake and bald mountain which is great!

First to Review
Useful but not ideal

About 13 of us stayed here to camp before a day on Bear Lake. This site has close proximity to Bear Lake and Garden City. It does require driving on a dirt road so a car with decent ground clearance is best. There are numerous boondocks sites available so the one we got doesn’t describe all other sites. But ours wasn’t the best. It was cool being surrounded by trees in a little ravine off the road, but it wasn’t level, had cow patties everywhere, and tons of flies. It was free, so can’t complain about that.

Close to Mammoth

These sites are well maintained and include fire pits, bear lockers and close access to restrooms, water and dumpster. Tree cover helps keep it cool. You are very close to mammoth lakes and devils postponed and rainbow falls. The drive in features great views of the mountains n the distance.

Perfect spot!

Free camping just outside Capitol reef national park. Maybe 5 min drive to the nearest restrooms. Another 5 min driving I to the park and you can find orchards that are free to pick and eat and amazing pies/cinnamon buns at Giffords House! (Go at 8ish. That’s when they get their pie delivery). To find the site, follow the directions listed on the Dyrt and be ready for a quick left or a quick right depending on what direction you’re coming from (use directions to show if it will be on your right or left). We got an amazing spot right next to the river with a great swimming hole. Zero light pollution so the stars were incredible. Drive to the very back of the lower dirt road to get to this spot.

ATV’s and dirt bikes!

Great spot for rv camping for a fun weekend of riding atv’s and dirt bikes on the dunes!

Get the sites near the river

$20 to camp here. The sites are very close together with lots of foot, bike, and skateboarding traffic passing nearby. I was lucky to get a site near the river which drowned out the noise. Each site has a parking spot, space for 2 tents, a coal grill, fire pit, and picnic table.

Camping in the meadows

First come first serve for these sites. Sound carries from other nearby sites and it is close to the road so passing vehicles create noise, but the quality of the area makes up for it. Beautiful rolling meadows with forest on either side add beauty to the area with majestic mountains in the background. This site is just over a wood fence to the right of the dirt road. You’ll notice fire pits and small clearings where tents have been

Nice to be alone

This site is deep past the meadows near square peak. You continue to follow the dirt road in and on your left is a small depression in the land with a fire pit and ample space for tents or hammocks. This site is 400-500 yards away from the next closest collection of camp sites. There is excellent privacy and a nice breeze that carries the smell of sage and mint through the area.

Patagonia logo in person!

Found this sight by word of mouth from a family member. It features deep forest to the East and the Grand Tetons to the west. Marked camp grounds are well separated from other areas. It’s first come first serve and we were lucky enough to get a spot. If can be windy and it is very dewy in the mornings. But the stars are spectacular and the sunset behind the Tetons is a replica of the Patagonia logo. It has marked fire pits and enough parking for roughly two cars per site. It’s proximate to Jackson WY, the Teton national park, and Yellowstone national park.

Depends when you go, but amazing!

I did a 5-day river rafting trip with a youth group through the San Juan. We camped on the plateau above the river and then spent each following night on the river bank. Summer time is beat since the cool water helps balance out the burning heat. However, it can also get really busy with other rafting groups. We never struggled to find camp sites but sometimes we had to wait to go through rapids or clear space so other groups could overtake us. All in all it was amazing and an awesome experience.

Loved camping here!

A bit pricey but if you go with a group it breaks down nicely. The sites have to be reserved and each one offers a different experience. The one I stayed at offered a huge expanse stretching out to the mountains in the distance. The view was incredible and the stars were stunning. Great privacy between sites. About a 30min drive from this site to Canyonlands and Arches national parks.

Awesome but lots of people

Location is very close to the beach and close to the city of McCall which has lots of fun things to do. Campsites are quite close to each other and you have to reserve quite a bit in advance if you want to book multiple sites close to each other.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Great site. There is plenty of dispersed camping and if you go early enough in the day to u can get some prime spots. Fire rings are already made and sites are well spaced for noise control and privacy. There is a lake close by and a stream that runs through the camps.

Beautiful

Challenging hike in with packs but very doable. Once you reach the lake it is stunning. We did this hike in July in the evening time. There was plenty of shade and a cool breeze that made it enjoyable. Be aware of the temperature before tackling this hike. There are a number of campable areas surrounding the lake. Hammocking is ideal due to the close clumping of trees all around the lake.

So many options

Loved my camping experience here. If you go early enough in the day to scope out sites, you get a lot of freedom with what experience you will have. You can take some dispersed sites that are fairly grouped together which makes noise from other sites an issue but has lots of visual privacy. The farther you go up the road past squaw peak, the more open fields and meadows you’ll find that provide amazing views.
