This was a great campground to come on a winter weekend. Only 90 minutes from home to site. We stayed on site 3. It’s close to the entrance but the driveway only had a slight grade. Mostly folks with trailers. The sites are not too close together but it is easy to see into the surrounding neighbors. The bathrooms were clean but older… 2 of the stalls were incredibly narrow. There were showers but I didn’t look at them. The campground is next to a very popular lake. Lots of trails. A great place to bring a bike too.

It is close to town. We picked up a pizza at Urban Pizza on our way. Excellent Pi! There were tons of restaurants though if you need to pick something up.

We came for two nights in late November. The days are short and the canopy of the redwoods created a pitch black surrounding. I can imagine on a hot day the trees would create a desired coolness. The sites are laid out nicely so we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other despite that our site was sandwiched between two others. Everything was flat and the bathroom was very clean with flushing toilets and paid showers.

There is a great trail to the beach but expect a longer walk. Your camp fees cover parking at the beach access across the road.

There was no host on duty but there was an honor system for firewood with wheelbarrows to bring your wood back to your site.

Great base to fun hikes and the cute town of Gualala.

We camped here for one night to test our pandemic project…a van conversion. We had never been here before but will definitely come back. We came in November, just in time for a temperature drop and some nice gusts. I’m not going to hold the chill against this area because I didn’t dress accordingly.

We had a great site and there was no one on either side of us. The bathrooms were a short walk down hill. They were clean with flushing toilets. There camp ground was quiet and it was mostly couples or small family groups. The hiking is quite beautiful and the woodpeckers were busy storing acorns.
