We stopped here for the night. Easy access to Hwy but thats also the downfall because you can hear it. 10+ new sites & toilets. Bear proof boxes for tenters. Nice fire rings. $12 a night, $6 with senior pass. Pretty level sites.
We pulled in and paid our $5 senior rate before I realized we were in a reservable spot. I checked with the host who was awesome and said no worries, it hadn’t been reserved so we were fine. It was beautiful there but the weather was nasty. It snowed and we actually had frost on the windows the next morning so we didn’t get to explore since we were only there for the night. If you are headed to West Yellowstone there is an absolutely beautiful drive on a dirt road by taking the Fort Henry bypass. We had a lot of mud due to the weather but made it fine in our Mercedes Coachmen.
It was like another planet. We really enjoyed this park & campground. We were told it fills up fast but we got there early enough and then went exploring. The weather was cool & rainy so we didn’t explore as much as we would have liked.
They just added 10+ new sites and new toilets and we think we were the first to stay in this one. There were not very many people there on a Tuesday night. We have a senior pass so paid $6.00. I would have given it 5 stars but the only downfall was the highway was close enough we heard the traffic a lot but was also a plus because it was easy access.
A little rough getting back in very far with a Class C but we did & found a pretty quiet place the 2nd night. First night we were closer to the highway & more traffic going back & forth until late with people looking for spots.
We had motorcycles & a tent trailer and space #6 was perfect. We were tucked into our own little area and could listen to the creek running nearby. Lots of people walking by headsd to the falls (6 miles round trip) but there vehicles weren’t allowed past parking lot unless camping. Flush toilets at parking lot which was a little walk away but clean. No showers and downfall to us was no dumpsters. Had to haul trash to nearest dumpsters at Hells Backbone entrance. Hogback on Hwy 12 & Burr trail at Boulder was Beautiful.
We are in a motorcycle tent trailer. The spaces weren’t crowded. There is a gas station/lodge/snacks/gift shop within walking distance. $20 a night but with Senior Pass 50% discount. The basic outhouse bathrooms were cleanest I have seen with soft toilet paper!! The host takes pride in his work. Easy drive to North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
Host is friendly. $6.00 a night with Senior pass. No soap so take some with you. Somewhat quiet but people (including us) wake up early to see the sunrise along the rim within walking distance. There is a pretty decent General store near the watch tower. Less crowded for sure but about 25 miles to main visitor center.
We got a great spot by the little lake on the property. You can rent paddle boats, swim & fish in it if you want. There is a nice walking path around it & the river that you can also park near. Mainly workkampers as staff. Very friendly. We ended up here 3 nights due to Thunderstorms. We were on motorcycles with Tent trailer. Very quiet at night & during the day other campers kids were having a blast. Near to town & activities.
