Winter Camping

Well, sorta camping if you consider a yurt camping. This was the perfect winter getaway for winter hiking. Unfortunately there was not enough snow to cross country ski as advertised. Overall the park has nice trails and some elevation gain. It made for a nice quick getaway.

Beavers Bend State Park

The lake is beautiful and there is easy access from the campsites. Campsites are fairly close together and there is not very much shade cover by trees which offers little privacy. As an added bonus the nearest gas station had amazing BBQ and the best twice baked potato salad I've ever had.

Cottonwood Lake Campground

This campground is a decent size, not too big but has several sites available if you are looking for basic car camping. No showers, vault toilets and beautiful scenery. It's a short walk to access natural water and has moderate shade. It's especially beautiful for Aspen Fall colors.
