Great Place for Peace

I cancelled a reservation at Tuckahoe SP due to traffic over the Bay Bridge. I wanted to find something close enough to home, but far away from the hustle and bustle of our suburban lives. This fit the bill. There are 10 sites….some are occupied by seasonal guests. It was very quiet and peaceful! The site was large and there wasn’t a lot of people. You can swim in the lake if you wish or rent boats/canoes for the day. Our water pressure wasn’t great, however not sure if it’s the campground or us as hubby found a possible issue with our hookup. Bring quarters if you are going to use the showers….25 cent a minute. Great way to get away and close enough to our home. We will for SURE be back!

Nice, but you are paying for it to be!

This campground has been Eagle's Nest, Castaways and now it's been taken over by Sun Resorts.  Very nice, but you are paying for that as well.  We stayed on an Island Oasis site.  These sites are small and we paid $250 for a weekend.  This was before the pools were even open yet.  There are things on site to do….they have a Tiki Bar, nice restrooms, a lovely beach, but you would expect that from a campground like this.  If you are looking for the kids to be busy and not around, this is your place….we went as part of a shakedown for our camper, just to make sure that all the systems were working.  I thought about going again, but the prices are a little unreal for just camping.

There is a neat brewery close by…..we really enjoyed that!

Nice weekend campground

We go here when we want to just chill.  It's a good place to do that.  Site are nice and large and it's an enjoyable place to just go, burn wood and listen to nature.  Fairly quiet when we were there!

Neat campground, bring hiking or walking shoes!

First off, if you are going to visit all the falls, bring shoes that you can walk in and that are smart for wet and moist surfaces.  Flip flops will not work for this.  We had tennis shoes on and that wasn't our best choice, however we don't own hiking boots….might be something we get in time, especially if we go back here.  The many falls are breathtaking!  We had a very nice site….no electric, clean bathhouses, very quiet.  This one was far for us, but we had a very enjoyable time there with our friends!

When it was the KOA, it was great....now, meh

We used to love this place.  I'm not a huge endorser of conglomerates, however this is an instant that I wish the people that own this campground would take a page out of their book.  I'd almost swear they added more sites.  We were in a teardrop camper and we were practically on top of our neighbors.  The pluses here are there is a falls that you can walk to and wade out to.  Always fun!  You can rent an inner tube and float down the river.  There are cute bunnies on the property.  The minuses-we found the bathhouses not so great, the pool when we were there wasn't in good shape and after that, we didn't even bother with the hot tubs.  There is a lot to do in the area, but having said that, it's not worth the money for another visit.  It's sad because we really loved this place in the 90's.  Luckily, lots of breweries, wineries, food and neat bars around to visit!

Great camping when you can get a spot

Love this campground.  Very hard to snag a spot for a weekend.  It's always busy.  Sites are small.  Lots to do, there's the beach, the WW2 lookouts, walks, biking and the surrounding area.  Easy access to Rehobeth and Lewes.  Always love going there!  The bathrooms can be a bit groady, but it doesn't matter too much to us now as we can take a shower in our unit if it's too bad.  We like camping here in the spring and fall….even with all the people, we can find peace.  Definitely recommended!

Nice campground close to home

This campground isn't too far from our home in Maryland, so if they have room and we want to go spur of the moment, this one is a good choice.  The sites are fairly large and they do have some full hook up sites which is nice.  The bathhouses are ok….because this one is not as off the beaten path, I think a lot of people that really don't know campground etiquette come here.  We find that people don't understand quiet after 10PM and so forth.  Like I said, it's just a nice place to get away to.

Cool campground

This was a cool campground…..if you are planning to use your cellphone at this one, probably not going to happen.  It's definitely off grid!  It's located at the halfway point on the AT.  You can get net at the camp store, but that will be it.  If you own a camper or larger, the sites are a bit challenging to park to say the very least, however they were a nice size!  The store is really just a small carry out with a few things, so bring everything you are planning to have in with you.  It's a pretty decent piece out to civilization.  Also, bring stuff for bugs, such as citronella or PIC's.  We found it buggy where we were.  Nice shaded sites, it was just a chill weekend for us.  We would like to try this one again in time to do some of the hikes and swim.  Toilets were clean and so was the bathhouse.

Do your homework on sites

This was a great trip for the most part.  Lots of neat things around.  We went to a winery and an ice cream place as well as did some other fun things.  There is a pool there and the area is fantastic.  As for the site, I took one of the last ones that was available in the full hookups.  Wouldn't book that site again for our unit.  It was on a slope and our sewage wouldn't drain correctly as it was uphill from the campsite.  That also caused issues when we went to clean our tank out upon leaving as we couldn't get it all out.  We then stopped at the dump station and that ended up being an issue too.  Not enough to keep us from not going back.  We will be there over the Fourth of July weekend.  Sites are not huge, however the bathhouse is new and nice and overall it was a great weekend!

Used to love it....not so much any longer

Our last trip here was interesting.  This was one of our favorite camping grounds back a few years ago.  The views are beautiful!  If you have a tent, the deluxe tent sites are AMAZING!  They have a roof over the picnic table which is helpful as it's one less thing to drag with you.  If you have a small camper as we do, well you really need to look at site guides and campers pictures as many places as you can before you proceed.  You also should be prepared to pay extra for locking the site if that is the one that you want.  This BOTHERS me!  If the site is available and I am booking it, why can another camper bump me out of the site?  Oh wait, I know!  $$$$$$ speak!  I'm all about free enterprise, however I just feel this is nickle and diming/greed to the extreme, and as a consumer, I don't appreciate it.  Knowing what I know now, there are a few sites I would never book ever again! (sites 85, 87, 94, 92, 90)  We happened to arrive during some bad storms, so that didn't make our situation better.  The site I had booked was on a slant and when we went to release our unit from the hitch, it slid….not something you want to happen to your new camper!  I told my husband to put it back on the hitch ball and in the meantime, I phoned the office to see if we could move.  I was given some site numbers that were available, however the incoming rain had us pick something rather fast that was level and on a cement pad, but unfortunately right in front of the playground.  We had no idea that when the pool closed, the kids came to the play area and they were loud!  If you are looking for a peaceful experience, do not book near any of the play areas.  You should also know we spent quite a bit more cash for this site, but it was not worth what we spent.

There are not a whole lot of trees and sites are small.  There are some great amenities and it was an ok weekend, but for the money that you spend here, you can just as easily find a hotel and enjoy it.  I can only give it 3 stars.

I <3 Assateague!

When we retire, we are going to take the camper and stay here for a week….better yet, might have to try the campground host thing……that's how much I love going here!  I'm sure spring and fall are best because bugs in Assateague are notorious!  It's also the reason that all of our trips have been in the fall!  It's so beautiful.  We have only had our battery power both times we have been there, but we've never been unhappy.  There is so much to do….walks, bike riding, watching the horses….our big joke seems to be that the horses show up the same time everyday and I swear they have a button up at the ranger station that they use that's like *Cue the horses*!  Seriously though, this is a GREAT PARK!  Bathrooms are clean and tidy, you can hear the ocean on a nice day….it's just peaceful and relaxing!  Never have too much of an issue getting the camper level and the sites are amazing in size compared to the commercial places close by.  To make a reservation, you will need to start going in when they let sites loose.  We'd love full hooks up here, but we will have solar soon.  Just so much wu sah there!

I'm including two trips to include our pictures from when we owned our teardrop Minion.  This is a fun way to get out of a tent and be comfy!  Highly recommended!

Nice park

This is a very nice campground that has been improved….little rough with getting our camper level in the site we selected.  New bathrooms which were clean, but we went in November , so showering in there would have been rough, so we used our camper shower.  Lots of neat things nearby such as an apple orchard.  Hiking and biking this park is fun.   It's a great place to camp and enjoy downtime!

Wonderful park!

We love this park….it's one of our favorites!  We have a small camper and there are some great sites on the lake side to park it where you can get AMAZING sunset views.  The restrooms at this park, while they are older, they are clean and pretty much in good order.  The lake is very nice and it's a very family park!  There are some neat places around and markets are close by.  Forry's drive in is great for an evening ice cream!
