Downed trees and decent sites

This camp was decent overall. There might only be 3 camp sites in Mineral Camp but there are endless more approaching this campground and quite a few more beyond it. If you camp in one of the 3 spots you have access to a toilet. I didn't realize where this campground was and ended up camping a short walk beyond the grounds. Fairview trail and Hardscabble trail are accessable from the actual grounds. I walked 1 mile in on the Fairview trail and it was pretty cool but the number of downed trees was extreme. The bridge was destroyed so you had to cross the Sharpes Creek. The other review for this camp ground had awesome pictures. I couldn't find any of those views. Might have been on Hardscabble or deeper on Fairview. I only stayed one night. No running water so bring enough or use a filter. Sites are quite big so more than one tent can be accommodated. Every campground I passed and saw beyond where I camped had at least rock fire rings. Most sites if not all I had seen were on some part of sharps Creek. This camp ground was probably one of the last if not the last in the Umpqua Forest. Downed trees all over this campground. Great wildlife sounds at night! Owl was hooting away.

Great car camping site.

This was a fun trip. Only went for a night to get away for a bit but the sites were large and spread out. Trails all around that were both long and short. Ranger was friendly, helpful and good to talk to. Bathrooms were clean, water spigots to get drinking water from, sink waste water disposal sites too. Access to Lake Norman was pretty easy and maybe a 15 minute walk. Worth going to for sure!

Beautiful park

I had such a great experience here. Went for 3 days and 2 nights arriving on a Thursday and leaving Saturday. We stayed at site 16. The only not great thing was that 4-5 families; each with 2-3 kids aged from 5-8~ were camped in the next 4 sites next to me. Kids were full of energy and loud as can be from the break of dawn to sunset. So -1 star :/. So chose your trip time & site wisely. Other than that it was fantastic. Sites were really nicely sized, though close together. Lots of short trails which kept my dog and I busy. Fishing was also great as there were quite a few spots to fish from. Was lucky enough to catch a few. Catch and release only; per the camp host! Lots of spots to swim aswell. Weather was amazing, water was cold, wildlife was active, and views were endless. Truly an awesome getaway. Camp host was friendly, helpful, very accommodating..RJ would frequently drive his golfcart around the grounds with his dogs running along side chatting up everyone and dropping off kindling and firewood. There were restrooms which were clean, water spigots to get water from and sink waste water disposal sites for cleaning your cooking stuff.

Mediocre at best

The views around the pond are very nice. Campsites are okay; some better than others. There's one bathroom facility but it's towards the entrance and the beginning of sites at the pond so be prepared with a shovel and TP. There are so many logging roads at this camp ground/mountain with dispersed camping available anywhere with flat ground you just might not be close to the pond. I went on a Friday and there were alot of people but the sites were spread out nicely you didn't really get bothered by anyone. My site was the last one by the water before it turns marshy though you could pass my site and drive for miles on logging roads. Fishing from shore is not advised; at least from my camp site. There's a large tree that runs out into the water which looks like a great place to fish but as you walk to the end of the log you'll see fishing lines all over. I lost 3 lures at that log and I think many others had too. Even watched one guy from camp try and fish there but he too got some snagged though he went in after them. A paddle boat or kayak is best; no motorized boats allowed. There's not a whole lot to do at this place. No trails that I could find so my dog and I walked on logging roads for a couple miles. This trip was spur of the moment and just wanted to get away for a night. I don't think I would come back. But some of the pictures and views were highlights of the trip.. there is a convenient store right before the entrance of the grounds though I never went but I'm sure you could get some essentials if forgotten.
