This is a great pull off on Hwy 1! It’s one of the few without a no camping sign, so we were not alone but it had plenty of space for three other car campers! The views are unreal!
We arrived at night, and the road they say to turn down doesn’t actually exist. There are just a ton of dirt pull off roads to pick from, we were fine with them in our van, except on one steep hill. We got stuck in deep sand on that hill, but with a little work we got it out. The spots are right outside of the southern entrance to the park! Probably best to arrive during the day time to set up!
We stayed here on our way west. It was quiet and secluded, there are plenty of spots. It’s a great stop, 40 minutes from Albuquerque. Our place had a little fire ring but nothing else is there. We are car camping so it’s perfect for that but also plenty of room for tents.
We stayed here with our dog on our drive west! It’s a great little spot, fairly quiet and secluded. Some car traffic on a nearby road but not bad. There are only picnic tables and small spot for fire, so we just picked a spot near the lake. We had a gorgeous sunset and wonderful view of the lake!
