Ledge B Campground Groupsite B

Posting this so people know the Ledge B Groupsite is within the Ledge B Campground. This is different from the other group sites in the Ledge Campground & it is not stated in the map at the entrance to the Ledge B Campground or anywhere online or elsewhere. We made reservations as we were getting there late on a Friday the day before the annular eclipse.l-10/14/23. When we got there we did notice that there were some campsites available in ledge B. That said, it was pretty packed that night, but through the rest of the week it cleared out. It’s beautiful out there & climbing up the small hill behind ledge B Groupsite gives a spectacular view as far as the eye can see. There is no running water, & the campground is at least a 30minute drive from town. The better toilet is the one less used closer to the entrance of the campground. This Groupsite is advertised for 15-30 people. That is far too much than it can handle. We had 9 people & 3 trucks & that was as full as could be made comfortable. October is a gorgeous time in this area. Highly recommend! Just be aware that this Groupsite is best served for less people, although it looks to be the nicest of the sites, group or otherwise.

Bring mosquito repellent in summer!

This is a very busy campground, with people & mosquitoes! We stayed in the first lot on the right from the entrance/exit. There were water faucets, but they are easy to miss. Bathrooms were overwhelmed. River was beautiful, but from our lot it was a very steep climb down to get to the rivers edge. Picnic table, fire pit & bear proof cabinet did well to provide for a comfortable evening. Yet surprisingly the best bbq in Colorado is down the road at restaurant in Marble.

One of my favorite campgrounds

Such a beautiful place! Wildflowers growing all along the dirt road of the campground. River was high & fast rushing, nice to listen & fall asleep to. Firewood was available for purchase. Toilet was clean. We hiked up to Hope Lake as suggested by cashier at gas station in Rico. A bit to early to see the lake in all its glory, August would have been better. Yet, we loved our time at Cayton Campground!

Wonderful time!

Lovely campground, very well maintained with great trails all around. No mosquitoes (early September).
