We picked this campground because it was close to my niece wedding reception. We made a multi-stop journey here. It was big rig friendly and the site we were at was private. It had a nice barbecue grill and fire rig. The property is quiet and they have lots of amenities for families and kid (arcade, mini golf, playground, pool, horse show rig). Unfortunately a big rain storm came thru and the site did flood. I wasn’t crazy about having to pay $9 for a day guest to visit us here…
Campsites #18-19
We stayed at these two campsites for a long birthday weekend. The sites were fairly level and backed up to one of the finger coves off this lake. That ended up having pros and cons… The bugs and gnats were bad in early September on several of the nights there. It have water, cable, 50/30 amp electric, fire ring and picnic table. The site were spacious and very clean. It was an on and off rainy trip and water did come through the site because the site was off an incline. It was a slight walk to the bathrooms and they were very clean although needed a bit of upgrading. The host came up to greet us and make sure all was good with our stay. We bought firewood for $5 a bundle of 5-6 piece. There was golfing and a large swimming pool at the resort that we did not use. You could also rent pontoon boats, kayaks and canoes to explore the lake. One drawback was no sewer hookups. So you have to allow an extra hour to dump and go. We did not like having to ration water usage during out trip. This was a one and done for us as the gnats were a real turnoff and no sewer hookups. So many other parks to explore.
Our spot was campsite #26
This was a maiden voyage for our Grand Design 399TH 5th wheel trailer. We wanted to go somewhere 2-3 hours from Gainesville for this “shakeout” trip. This state park fit the bill. We arrived after hours so out packet of information was tacked to a board outside the park office. The road were wide and spacious. The overhead canopy of trees were trimmed up well and did not hit the rig. This park is very good for large 40+ ft rigs.
I would HIGHLY recommend it!! It was huge, very private and close to the bathrooms. It was a level gravel site that was clean and freshly racked. It had full hookups and 50 amp which was great for this 43 foot beast.
There’s not a whole lot to do in the park so a great location for just relaxing, reading or hiking. It had nice paved roads for biking. You also have a couple of hiking trails although we did not try them. This park is convenient to downtown Savannah and a nice outing if you want to explore or sightsee. I would definitely go back.
