Got to Ocean Cove mid week and was able to snag a spot on the bluff overlooking the cove. Clean sites with picnic tables and fire pits. $30 cash or $35 cc. No amenities. I saw Porta potties but didn’t use them. No ATT service. Although went for a walk down on the rocks south of the camp and my phone dinged with some 5G. If you fish or dive this is a great base camp. Amazing sunsets and the little store has coffee and and little things you might of forgot. About 30 minutes north of Bodega Bay.
Pomo is a great campground just a couple miles from the center of Fort Bragg. We stayed in spot 12 (full hookup) and the ATT service was pretty non existent. They have wireless internet but at our location it connected but it was so weak we gave up. Don’t bother with it. I had to do some online work stuff so I drove town to the Pomo bluffs by the inlet and got some good ATT service. To reserve our spot I had to call in and send a deposit check. No online reservations or 💳 credit card at this time. Campsite had gravel that was raked in between visits and was super clean. The sites (at least 12) are VERY private with a tall hedge around three sides. A Washer drum fire pit and picnic table rounded out a great little zone. Bathrooms, laundry and showers go along with the cleanliness of the whole campground.
Emma Wood grew on me. After traveling down through Washington, Oregon and Northern California where you get a little more bang for your buck I was a little disappointed by the amenities of the site. About the only thing you get is a narrow dirty parking place and a dumpster to put your trash. No running water in the camp or nearby. That being said the rangers are very nice and the neighbors were very helpful. We spent 3 nights there and by the end I was growing to love it. Train going by gave it some charm. Not too loud. We were in site 3… right at the beginning and on the beach right in front of the surf spot. 🏄♂️ peaky little lefts and rights to be had. Dolphins 🐬 swimming right off shore and pelicans flying low overhead. The sunsets are amazing too. We got there on Wednesday in May in the beginning of May and it had lots of open spaces but I’m sure it fills up on the weekend and in the summer.
Was able to call and snag a last minute two day Jalama site on the way south. It’s been 30 years since I’ve been there and it’s way better than I remembered. Amazing 🌅 sunsets, great beach for surfing or just a nice long walk. No phone service but the camp Wireless was actually pretty decent. Was able to make call via the connection. Our site 96 had 30 amp Hookup but had to get water from the spigot by the bathrooms before we hooked up. Also easy dump site on way out. Can get very windy and the first day was.
Passing through south we tried to stay at Patrick’s Point but it was full. Even on a Wednesday in April. So we kept heading down the highway and after a drive through Trinidad we came upon this spot! Great spot with super clean bathrooms and laundry. Nestled in a little redwood grove. Wireless was a little slow for kids to watch a movie but no biggie. Two bars of LTE on Att from pull through #90. I’m also laying in bed looking up through the redwoods. Can hear the road noise from 101 but it’s not bad.
The best maintained, well kept RV resort you will find. Right on the beautiful Rogue River and just a few minutes drive to the town of Gold Beach. Very quiet and great for fishing or just watching the river sweep by. You can tell the owners take a lot of pride in keeping a serene and clean resort. Would love to come back and spend more time fishing and exploring the area.
I originally wanted to go to the RV park by Rogue Brewery but my wife wanted to check this one out and it did not disappoint. We didn’t have a reservation but there was lots of one night spaces available. The spots with green tag are up for grab for a night and the ones with white paper on them have reservations. Not sure the status of the sites with neither marker…… but with around 250 sites there was lots to pick from. Men’s shower was warm and had good pressure but my wife said women’s lacked water pressure. Nice walk/bike paths lead to the beach and the jetty. Was just 1.5 mile walk to Rogue brewery. Which was nice to work off a couple beers 🍻 and Reuben Fries. 🍟. Ok probably not enough enough walking to burn those calories but it was a nice walk. Probably would of taken Uber back of it was dark though. Part of the trail goes through some hardly marked narrow bits. Water and electricity but no sewer. Dump station as you leave the park.
Looking to get away from everything? This is your spot. Drive right in and pick a spot. Most spots on A row are pretty choice. We got there on a Wednesday and got a good spot on B. Although some opened up in A, on the bluff the next day. The farther south you go in the campsite you can pick up some internet service. Or do like my teenagers and do some “exploring” which means walk down the beach until you get enough service to download movies to watch that night. 😂 But I did have to Tie in to a zoom meeting and the gas station 10 minutes south had 4 bars of att. No hookups. Bathrooms were real clean most of the time. Went to the 🚽 one night and there was 💩 tracks from 👟 👟 not really sure what happened there. Surfed 🏄♂️ ruby beach, saw the big cedars, and the tree of life. Other than that mostly just reading and stoking the fire. Saw whales 🐋 too.
Cannon RV park was real nice. 10 minute walk to town and the beach. Not sure if it was Covid but the bathroom near us was closed and the others had weird hours. 10-6. Though It was nice to take a warm shower in a large shower after a week + in our little Coleman 19’ trailer. Also was nice to do laundry too. $2.50 for wash and $2.50 for dry. About ten minutes to Seaside if you are looking to catch some waves.
