Like a small desert... next to a lake.
Horseshoe Bend is a great camping area. It is right next to the marina, where you can buy a few supplies, and there is a roped off swimming area nearby. Great place for families to get away.
No cell signal, which is not really a bad thing in my opinion.
We have found scorpions, however, so always be aware of your surroundings!

We love going to the Downstream campground at Fort Peck Dam.
There are tons of shade trees, many different types of camping spots, fishing ponds, walking/running trails all around the campground, and great shower facilities.
