I have stayed here a few times and had great times. Quiet mountain campground not too far from town. Weekend summer crowds can be loud and packed. Had the unfortunate experience of a large group in camp who were loud and messy. Also beware you MUST pay $8 a night CASH ONLY for additional vehicles. We had to make a late ATM run since we don’t carry cash when we camp.
This campground is pretty nice given its location. It is off the main road quite a ways, so you do not have a lot of traffic noise. Some of the spots are shaded and summer direct sun, so please look at the pictures. We did enjoy the closeness of the trails and the town nearby. This is a place to stay.
This little gem is awesome. Spots are tight but the location close to the ghost town is a huge plus. Walk to the town and eat, shop, and experience the history. Also trails to old mines in the hills. Be careful. Lots of OHV traffic and Jeep use of these trails as well. VERY HOT in summer and little to no shade.
Blue jay is a pay to stay campground. You pay at the gate and get what spot you can find. There is fresh water in camp and there are bathrooms. The locations are pretty good and pretty private from each other. If you like to hike bike or trail run, there’s tons of trail. Lots of hills though so don’t under estimate them. We love it here
