This is a fairly new campground on Grand Island near Niagara Falls. There a lot to do here, kayaking the pond, 2 zip lines, miniature golf and great pools. The bathroom/showers are spotless. The sites have a decent amount of room and many have a lot of shade. They have back in or pull through sites, cabins, tent sites and even yurts.
This campground is only worth staying at if you’re going to the park. The bathrooms are small dirty and there’s not enough of them. The hookups are pathetic most sites I saw that were listed as 30 amp were not and the power box was well in front of your camper and water was on the wrong side of the camper. We had a shaded and wooded site which was ok but the mowing and maintenance was terrible.
This campground is located right on the edge of the road but is a nice well maintained little place. Most sites are rented already as seasonal so getting a site can be tough. Sits on a nice little pond
I’ve been camping at Gilbert lake for 35 or so years. It’s pretty quiet, the state has made many sites bigger over the last few years and is starting to add electricity to more sites. You can fill your water tank at the dump station as there are no water hookups. There is plenty of places to get water to wash dishes or whatever you need. The Shower/ bathroom buildings are a bit dated but well maintained. There’s miles of hiking trails including one around the lake. Multiple really nice pavilions, disc golf course and a nice beach with lifeguards for swimming. I would definitely recommend.
My family has stayed here twice. Excellent experience both times. The park is clean and well maintained. The bathroom/showers are busy but always clean. The beach area is one of the nicest I’ve been to and the water is amazing. There’s walking paths around the lakes that are even handicap accessible. This state park is very busy because it’s just that nice. A must do if you’re in the area.
I give it a 1 star because the lady at check in was wonderful. Great to work with. Otherwise the park isn’t worth any stars. The sites are tight and difficult to back in if someone is across the road. The bathroom/shower building was filthy and smelled horrible. Also the park is so spread out you have to drive to get to anywhere. I would recommend to not waste your time or money on this park.
