DC on a Budget

The location makes this one 5-Star. Ten minute drive to the metro station for a quick 30-Minute ride to all DC has to offer. Cars need to stay parked on the paved road and hanging hammocks is not allowed. There was a good number of rest rooms and we enjoyed the peacefulness after full days of sightseeing.

Well Maintained

Great location with lots of hiking trails to choose from. Car-camping makes this great for families, the camp sites are generously sized and spaces for privacy. We will be back!

Something for Everyone

We take an annual summer trip here. The waterfall hikes, beach with concession area and nearby tubing down the Dan River make this a great campground to explore the beautiful NC mountains. The campsites and restrooms are well maintained and the camp hosts are knowledgeable and friendly.

Beachtrips made affordable

Great location close to Wilmington and Carolina Beach. The recent addition of air-conditioned cabins are a welcome alternative during the hot summer months even though they book up quickly. We enjoyed fishing and exploring the campground.

Great for Groups

This is a favorite for our large group of families. Many of the group sites butt up to the lake. The central fire pit, picnic tables, water spigot and clean restrooms make this a popular choice. Easy car camping in close proximity to the greater Triangle make this a great destination, especially for families and beginner campers. Falls Lake allows for kayaking, floating or just splashing in the water and enjoying the sandy beach.
