Beautiful campground with amazing views all around. Best part is you get to sleep inside Pando !
Dispersed camping with great views all around. There are some rock fire pits made by other campers but currently campfires aren’t allowed in the area. There are dumpsters but no restrooms. The dirt roads are easily accessible by 2WD.
The coordinates listed on the app take you to private land on the side of the road and a cement plant. Perhaps the coordinates are wrong or maybe the location has since closed.
Pretty much just flat land surrounded by a primitive fence. No porta potty when I was there. It’s far enough away from the highway that cars aren’t bothersome. Sego Canyon petroglyphs are about 15 min away which is nice.
Had very clean restrooms and showers. Lots of amenities like a playground and volleyball net. Campgrounds face the main area where cars drive so they’re not very private, but that wasn’t a problem for us.
It’s about 10 minutes from downtown Gunnison. You can get to most of the sites without a 4WD. The sites are dispersed enough so each site has pretty good privacy. You can still get phone service at some of the higher elevation sites.
It’s a nice area with plenty of room. Once you make a left off the highway onto the dirt road there’s one left turn that’s only accessible by 4 wheel drives. However if you continue and turn at the second left there’s a dirt road most cars could handle.
