Dory Days at Cape Kiwanda

We have stayed here every year during Dori days for the last seven years. They have a parade in town with vendors along the side of the road. There are lots of little shops and plenty of food. The bar in town has some of the best food we have eaten on the road. The campground is just a short walk to the beach. where you can watch the Dory boats launch and come back in several hours later. We have seen some of the most beautiful sunsets here ever. There are several places to eat, and the food is really good at most of them. There is a little store where you check-in and they also have an indoor pool there. The campground is really nice. Doryland pizza on the right when you enter the park has not been our favorite place to eat for several reasons. Mostly their inability to make a pizza the way you want it (several times) and their customer service has been horrible (prior Covid experiences). We always look forward to staying there. Don’t be surprised if the bunnies visit your campsite.

Multiple Stays

Every year my family gets together for a family campout. We have stayed at Turtle Rock RV several times. Just past the entrance to the park is a little tavern that has a lot of seating and some really good food. Next to the office where you check into the park is a Mexican restaurant to which we will probably never return to. Inside the park is lots of open space and they provide camping for large pool through vehicles, cabins with hot tubs, and tents. While the tent spots we have not used, we have used the cabins and the RV spots. I think most of the cabins have hot tubs, and some of the RV spots also have them. There is a path to the beach which goes under Hwy 101 and it a fairly short walk, BUT it is not path for folks in wheelchairs of any kind and those who are not stable on their feet. My Dad who is 82 years old does walk there though. The cabins are fully equipped with most cooking utensils that you will need. They are clean and fairly roomy. It is a short distance to the town of Gold Beach where there is just about anything you would need. We always look forward to camping there and try to camp there at least once a year.
