Secluded Gem

Nicely kept lake campground. Spots 56-60 overlook the boat docks. Bass fishing is good here. Showers are doable but don’t ever seem to be truly clean. Kayaking and canoeing is great here also. Cabins are small, rustic with no AC or water but are all nicely placed on the water. Campsites don’t have any shade. Drawbacks: dirty showers, no beach/swimming.

Great setting for fishing & camping

Beautiful campground with spacious, wooded sites. We camped here with our sons 9 & 11 and there wasn’t a minute of the day they weren’t exploring! The small, sandy beach is clean and provides a large swimming area. The boat ramp is convenient and easy to use, also free. There’s a tie up point right at the campground that has room for 4 boats. The rock jetty provides an area for shore fishing. Great fishing on Leech Lake. Showers and bathrooms (flushable ones) were the cleanest I have seen in a federal campground. Only reason I have I four stars was because we were plagued by biting flies. It became unbearable at times so we would go to the town of Walker and walk around to escape the insects. We had no luck with any one spray that worked to keep them away. However, can’t wait to go back.

Convenient Camping

Large, wooded sights. Clean & well kept. Small sand beach with a playground and pavilion. You can fish from a fishing dock by the dam. This is set right in the town so you do hear road traffic which takes away from the seclusion feeling that most desire when camping. However, it’s short walk to convenience stores and several restaurants. This is a great place for beginning campers, especially with children. Paved roads good for scooters & bikes. Also convenient for stop overs while traveling with easy road access.
