COME CAMP HERE

Struggling to describe this campsite in a way that really does it justice. Run, speed, zoom as fast as you can to Redmann’s Hollow. We were only passing through for the night but I wish we could have stayed for 2 weeks. Maybe even forever. It’s so green, right on the water, and numbingly peaceful.

I believe it’s family operated and the office is a cute little cottage where we met the lovely people who run it. This place just feels like your mom is giving you a really long hug, but for $15.

My boyfriend and I and our dog stayed on a Sunday night in June and had the place almost completely to ourselves. Our dog loved being able to wade in the water and if it was 10 degrees warmer I would’ve been out there with him. It was a pleasure to see the Browns in the Super Bowl in the outhouses. There is a well for water access and plenty of firewood.

The ONLY bad thing about this place is the mosquitoes. Absolute war zone. Bring your best armor. (Hopefully it was just the time of year.)

Off of NC-105

We drove up on a Saturday and it wasn’t too crowded, definitely people around but plenty of open campsites. There were a couple of good washouts in the road, so 4WD or AWD would be recommended but maybe not required. Several good spots to pull in with a vehicle. We found a big spot but it was right next to the road (most of the campsites were), but it was still quiet enough - only one car that drove by at night.

We had a view of Table Rock and plenty of space for the two of us and our dog.

3 stars because of the proximity of the campsites to the road, as well as many of the campsites needing to be picked up after the last campers (we checked out at least 10 other spots before deciding where we wanted to stay).

Overall, a nice visit!
