Arrived in the dark but was still able to locate the dirt path. With our Subaru Forester the road was fairly easy. There are some soft spots in the sand/gravel that had me nervous, but I don't think it is deep enough to be too concerning, just be cautious. There was a mustang or sedan that was in front of us and they kept driving on. We pulled over to the first available area. There are plenty of spots along the back side of the lava field to camp. Good solitude.
Verizon gets service out there: 20 down / 15 up Mbps.
A mile or so down East Fork Road off the 12 highway there was a closed road sign. Could not get to the sites from here. East Fork Road was a bit muddy and some snow.
As of 3/13/22
The road to this site off the 12 is currently closed. 3/13/22 I assume because of the snow and mud.
