Good experience - skip the tour

We found this campground via a great YouTube video. Drove in shortly after Ida hit so it was washed out (gravel issues). Glad I had 4WD because I needed it to get my camper into the site. Site c35 was private but sloped. Many other sites looked bigger and flatter. Lots of pull throughs and big rigs here. People were very nice. Campground was good. Lots of life here and nice pool.

The tour of the cavern was not great. Our tour guide shared more of her personal experiences with bats, growing up on a farm, and potential lizards in the cave than a single geological fact. I’d imagine other caverns around here have more expert guides. I’d come back to the camp ground and skip the cavern.

Great stay - small campground

If you are looking to stay at a small state park campground and bring your boat near your site or launch your canoe and paddle board look no further. We loved our stay site 208 (electric only) it was big and near the water. I’d stay here again.

Nice stop over night

Very very nice people. Sites are small but we were not here to hang out. Right off i80 with nice gas stations that are big enough to accommodate our rig. I’ve stayed here twice and I’d do it again.

Great option very near Pittsburgh

This was a lovely camp ground with very nice people. Lots of type of site options. Mix of seasonal and weekend camping. We stayed early in the season so many of the amenities were not open yet. We did watch kids fishing and pulling fish out as soon as they put their line in!! So much fun for them. I don’t know how typical this is on a weekend but on Saturday it was incredibly loud with a site blasting music. Good music for sure but it was probably a 1/4 mile away and I could hear every word and impacted our ability to enjoy the fire and chat. Overall we’d come back.

Wish we had stayed longer

We stopped in one night on our way back to Pennsylvania. We had a lovely stay and the hosts were so hospitable. We purchased firewood and they walked it to our campsite. Our site was plenty large and the concrete pad was perfectly level. It was our last night of the season so we spent a lot of time in the morning cleaning out our gray and black tanks. We are pretty COVID cautious given some health conditions and this campground was very comfortable. I’d love to go back and see more of the areas.

Great home base for a week

We stayed here for a week to visit the Asheville area. The location is amazing very short drive into town, hiking spots, and I highly recommend you take a walk around Lake Junaluska . We booked this spot for the location and it delivered. Yes, that came with a lot of highway noise… but again we wanted an easy jumping off point. So we got exactly what we booked. What was the biggest difference maker was the staff. So lovely, so kind! Trash pick up from our site and each night they delivered firewood to us. Even would refill your propane tank and deliver it back to you. Spots were a little squeezed but not too bad. Dog park was awesome for our two pups.

Nice stop on your way somewhere

Very nice folks when you check in and large general store/laundry facility. It is a great launching pad if you would like to do things in the area. The campground hosted a gigantic bonfire the night we were there which was a sight! The sites are pretty close together and we couldn’t use our fire ring because it ended up being very close to our rig. Luckily we camped with friends who had more space in their spot (the end spot near the lake has to be the best spot in the place). I couldn’t get it level with my Anderson levelers it was pretty slopped. On my way out I heard they were having someone come in to level the sites so I imagine it was just the time of year we visited.
