We got eaten alive!! It's a beautiful area and the nights were beautiful but never again. Its definitely just for a day trip to getaway from the heat for a few hours. The road is rocky and bumpy so air down if you have a system or just go slow.
Awesome drive to the campground through junipers, pines, and also a small patch of Aspens. There's a hike 1/2 mile down from the camp with epic views of the Grand Canyon. Highly recommend.
This place is absolutely amazing. We had a wicked beautiful spot at the edge. We had a creature get into our trash waking us up in the middle of night, so don't forget to bring it in. The road up is easy, some spots get a little rocky but if you take your time you'll be fine. Definitely the best free campground I've been too. There's no bathroom so bring a shovel and toss your tp in the fire (if allowed and if not throw it in your trash bag) other then that sit back and enjoy the view.
My best friend and I stayed 2 nights at campsite 63, no shade at all so bring an easy up. It's on top of a little hill in the middle of everything with an amazing view of the lake and surrounding mountains. We absolutely loved it. Not far from a trailhead leading up to the waterfall you'll hear as soon as you arrive. The bathroom's are very clean and actually smell good. The camp host were wicked nice people. Chipmunks are every where, I had one jump on my back scary the crap out of me lol and my friend had one jump on his lap scarying him. So make sure you watch the little creatures and protect your food haha
