Lovely / not overrun campground

After driving around every overcrowded campground in mammoth lakes we were lucky enough to find this campsite on Dyrt. It had many open spots even in July with beautiful views of nearby mountains. Close walking distance (about .5 miles to a mile depending one where your site is) to a lake and a hiking trail up to devils postpile. We also went to try the hot spring there at night but it was so hot you had to bring up buckets of water from a nearby creek to use it, we heard it is better in the early mornings. Also there are a lot of bears in the area and they are relatively comfortable around humans, one walked through our site and other campers sites while we were there so make sure to keep all food and items that may have scent in the bear boxes provided and not in your vehicle or tent!

Amazing spot by the ocean

We were heading down route 1 from Redwoods to Fort Bragg in July. This was a perfect stop on a cliffs edge and we kept driving looking for other sites after and ended up heading back to this site and regretting not just grabbing a spot originally. It has a charger for electric cars and you can walk down to the beach. Sites are very close together and it is right off the highway so those are things to keep in mind if you are looking for something very secluded. Some folks set off fireworks on the beach at night which apparently was against the rules but were fun to watch.

The best campground 🌲

Planned a trip last minute and so we didn’t have any reservations for campgrounds within redwoods park. This ended up being so much nicer. It is first come first serve and the staff are super friendly. It’s in a new grove of redwoods but there are stumps of old grove redwoods near some of the campsites that are huge. We stayed in site 27 and it was perfect, had a trail right behind it with paths through the camp that are small but have streams running through them. Stayed at a roadside place about 10 minutes up the road the night before and once we saw this place we couldn’t believe we hadn’t kept driving.
