Camping was good, but you come here more for the scenery and trails in my opinion. Falls are beautiful and you can swim in them! Just watch for sogns because some are too dangerous if the water pressure is too high.

If you go off the path you can also find hidden gems!

I live in Wisconsin and it took me this long to come see this state park and the Big Manitou Falls

Unfortunately they were closed for the season so I had to car camp nearby.

I really enjoyed it here! The campsites were big and spaced out enough (though check the map because some are close together).

Plenty of trails, a scenic out look, a beach, pavilion, volleyball, etc.

Dogs are allowed on leash, but cant be on the beach.

Half of the campground is closed for the off season.

Im a car camper for the most part so ill set up where ever and be happy. This place seemed to be nice for people who want to keep there RV for 6 months at a time. However for short term 1-3 night camping its not the best. Not much for amenities and the town didnt have much to offer. I give it 3 stars because the owner was nice and I recognize this place is designed for a different use than I used it for.

This is a great place for the love of camping. Running water, quiet, and can be very private depending on the site.

Traditionally I camp out of my car. But this time I opten in for the 200meter walk in site and I pitched a tent. The site was very large with a firepit, bench, and picnic table. I also cant forget to mention right on the river.

There are pit toilets, spot for water, and some hiking trails.

Would be 5 star review if there was more privacy, but this is to be expected from state park camping.

Campsite was flat, open, and had plenty of room. Plenty of trails nearby and the falls and scenic outlooks were well worth the walk.

Amenities included wood available onsite until 8pm, bathrooms (pit style, but clean), playgrounds, and a nature center.

Fire-pits had a place for cooking, but do not place hot cookware on the picnic bench because the coating of the table will melt….

I stayed at the north campsite #47.

Campsites were nice, spacious, level, and had plenty of twigs for fire tinder. You could also see water from both either side of the campgrounds.

Cell service was good, I was able to hotspot Netflix to my laptop as the night winded to an end.

Toilets were pit toilets, but wernt the old gross ones. They were decent and the one I used did not smell like bowels.

The firepits also had grills so you could cook and a picnic table for seating.

All and all campsite was nice. However, I like privacy when I camp and I like feeling remote which I did not get here.

I stayed in Site 3.

The 9 campsites were spread out pretty well. You wont know what is happening at the sites around you unless you looking for something to find. Campsites were large, but many you could not drive all the way through due to the rocks they have in the way. However, there is ample room for parking.

River is very close, about a stones throw away. You can hear it at night.

Camping is free and first come first serve. The place was full by the evening both nights I stayed in October. Its about a 6 mile and 15 minute drive down windy dirt road to get to the sites. Really any kind of vehicle can make it, but there are some large potholes that snuck up on me.

Please be prepared to bring you garbage out of the campsite. There is no amenities available here. The campsite next to me had left a full garbage bag behind which is less than disrespectful.
