It's a nice campground, but...

We stayed on site 15 of the B loop. It was a great location, but in the center of the site once stood a large tree with a timber surround. The tree has been cut down, but the surround is still there, and we kept tripping over it. Otherwise, it's close to the bathhouse, and the water spigot is right across the street. As someone who uses a camper, here's what you need to know. Coming up the mountain has some steep grades and a few switch backs that you can't see around. There are often oncoming vehicles who are often driving to fast and not considering those of us in large vehicles. We had a couple of course calls even without the camper in tow. The roads in the campground are narrow and again, some of the turns are sharp when pulling a trailer. There is only one dump station and it's on the other side of the campground. From the B loop, you have to traverse about a 120 degree switchback to get to it. My friend who was there pulling a 5th wheel decided not to try it and opted to pay to dump somewhere else. I pull a 25ft travel trailer and had no problem, although it felt sketchy going into it. Once there, it was probably the best dump station I've ever used. The water pressure almost blew a connection to my tank flush, but I'm sure the tank is clean now! As I eluded to before, there are no water hookups at the sites, only power (30A). You'll need to fill your fresh water tanks before you set up. Cell/ internet; in the B loop there is NO AT&T in spite of what this site says. You may get a weak signal on the other side, but it's spotty at best. There appeared to be a Verizon tower on the mountain, so that will probably work. It is a pet friendly campground, but personally, I don't find that friendly. I don't like walking up to someone dog barking at the person getting their 6 am morning walk and then the owner yelling at the dog to be quiet.

Beautiful location

I would have given it 5 stars, but the roads are rather narrow for two way traffic. They have added more RV sites and are up to 90 now. Most have been renovated and are very nice. Our site was almost dead level side to side. We didn't bother blocking at all. Unfortunately it rained the whole time we were there, so we didn't get to explore the campground. There are bath houses with laundry facilities. The roads are narrow, but in good repair. The sites are a little closer than I'd like, but positioned well and better than a lot of campground I've seen. You're not on top of your neighbor, but you may not have much privacy either. The second Saturday of December they have a tree lighting event, which is why we picked that weekend, but it is packed. We decided to skip it due to the crowd and do our own thing at the camper. All said, i look forward to going back on a dry weekend to do some hiking and exploring.

We'll go back

We stayed in site 41. We were in town for an event and picked this site for the convenience to the exit. Turned out to be a great spot. It was quiet and clean. I think every site has some view of the lake, even if not directly. The staff was friendly. The dump station was clean but short and tight. I have a 25' camper and fit ok, but speaking to another camper with a large 5th wheel, he couldn't use it.

Great Campground, Great location

The campground is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the sites are level and spacious. I prefer the sites on the outer ring as they offer the most privacy. The sites have plenty of room between them and many have natural boundaries. We couldn't see our neighbors. Most of the sites are pull through for RVs and have a tent pad, table and fire ring. It's also only ten minutes from historic Savannah. There is also a convenient shopping center just outside the campground. We will be going back.

Avoid if possible

I have not personally stayed here, nor would I. It has potential to be a nice small campground as it sits along side a pretty creek. But currently it is the home to many full timers with broken, run down rigs. It is a complete mess. I drove through recently looking for a place my dad could park his rig while he was in town and immediately scratched it off the list.

Very relaxing

My wife and I did the walk-in tent camping. We had a nice, relatively secluded spot. This area of Lake Lanier is pretty quiet. Great for kayaking or paddle boarding.

It's hard to beat Carter's Lake

The Doll Mountain campground sits along side Carters Lake in North Georgia. It is an Army Corp of engineer's lake and has no homes along it's banks. It's a great place to get out into nature. Go fishing, kayaking, or both and enjoy the beautiful clean water and mountain views.
