EDIT: I was a regular, NO MORE!! I have been trying for 2 1/2 years to get back in, almost every day so we can visit our grandchildren. The thing is if you are not from town or immediate area you can only reserve Monday afternoon to Friday morning! Out of state like us, forget it.They ALWAYS have Friday to Sunday blocked off forever and ever.We did give in and stayed during the week. On Friday morning when we had to leave there was empty sites all around us. When we went to the office they would not give one to us. Waiting for people from town to camp for the weekend? I would think they get state or federal funding so going to find out and if so hope they loose it. End of edit———Nice lots with trees, small lakes, camp store, bar, kids play grounds, clean showers close, water, electricity, walking. I spent a month here to be just minutes from San Diego and grand children. Something this nice you have to reserve at least 6 months ahead for nicest tree sites. Many sites (200+) but very popular. With the virus locals are camping here to just get away from it all. So as I said At least 6 months to reserve. Pushers no problem. Goggle Santee Lakes to view camp sites and to reserve one.

Little hard to find. It is on Stony Point Camp Road NW. It is 13 miles NE of Walker, MN on Leech Lake. Very nice campground. Electricity, dump station, nice showers, water, boat landing and fish cleaning shed. Be careful with water as a lot of the faucets are not potable. Just a few potable and they are marked so pay attention. We parked across from a potable but didn’t want people driving on hose so put a little in fresh water tank and rolled hose up. A large Pusher will have trouble but I seen people doing it. People are friendly and quiet. Camp sites are large with lots of large trees, a little on the rustic side which is what I look for. I would stop again. Campground dismissed maintaining August 2019 due to virus and lack of help. Showers closed. I would check ahead of time. Sadly this is happening nation wide due to the virus.

Nice clean campground very well maintained and free. Near Henderson, MN which is one of a kind small town well worth the visit for all. This is rustic with no hookups except very clean portapotty and hand lever water jack. Pick where to park in nice large grassy areas. A few areas are next to wild and deep ravines. Very nice large new play areas with slides for kids. Popular with a few horse trailers and riders on weekends because of COVID get to gather worries elsewhere. Friday morning before week end is best to get there in case of horse trailers to get nicer spot. Sometimes only a few campers are there. Call ahead to stay overnight so sheriff is aware. Not a lot of people know about it and is at end of long gravel road for peace and quiet. No problem for 5th wheels and tents both, pick your spot. Want to relax, chill out and visit your neighbors. This is worth the visit.

Right time of year it is nice. Along the river are nice sites but mosquitos can be a problem. Park is subject to flooding and can be closed. Sometimes a long time. Wide open grass center of Park is wide open for frisbee kids and and such, nice. Restrooms and showers nice. Watch kids by river sites! Watch for music concerts. Lots of music get together in park, Mankato and N. Mankato outside. Lots of bars with excellent music and dining inside. This area loves music, blues, rock and country. I not trying to be negative on park as right conditions can be 4 1/2.
