This is a great spot for a fishing getaway or to have a base for seeing the local sights. There is a cafe/store on-site with good meal offerings and minimal supplies. Other services can be found within a 30 minute drive if needed. Lake access for boats is available within 5 minutes drive.
There are limited RV spots available; the owners are very helpful and knowledgeable. There is not much in the way of shade and don't expect to find any on-site designated play areas for children but it is a great location for the RV person who is going fishing or setting out to see sites in the area.
This is a great short or long term RV spot for those that are wanting to have possibilities of great fishing. On the shores of Oologah Lake with a boat ramp. There appear to be many long term campers here; there are not organized places for children to play. However, there are places that any kid could find to play; this park is mainly structured to attract older campers. There are services and goods available within 30 minutes.
This is also a great location for exploring area attractions (Will Rogers birthplace home, Will Rogers Museum, Woolaroc, etc. I would not consider this a kid friendly park and there are not any activities other than lake access and fishing. If you go into looking at it as a fishermen's destination, you will be happy.
This is a great location for RVers that want the conveniences and/or are wanting to see the local area. However, there is nothing fancy about this park and it needs some regular maintenance (playground grass and weeds have grown up). There are many local attractions and thing to do (Claremore Expo, Will Rogers Museum, J.M. Davis Gun Museum, etc.) and all of the shopping and vintage stores that a person might like to see. But the park does not seem to have regular maintenance; a little sprucing up and regular attention would go a long ways for this area.
This is a great park for the RV person; there is nothing out of the ordinary but there is easy access to the lake for all sorts of water sports and a marina is available. There is an ADA fishing dock on the lake and equestrian horse trails are available for the traveling horse owners. Other services can be found within a thirty minute drive. It can get hot during the summer months and ticks can be bad when getting out of established areas and off of the trails.
This is a tent camping area only state park that is on the banks of Lake Thunderbird. There all types of water sport activities are at the lake; there is a marina available on the lake and all other services and gods are available within a thirty minute drive. Being a tent camping area only, there is typically not as much pressure and tent campers get to have more of a "quiet" setting. The area experiences heavy use during holiday weekends and the first weekends of summer but typically drops off after that time. Summer temperatures will be hot and humid so prepare to enjoy the water.
This is a very nice state park camping area on the shores of Lake Thunderbird. There is ample wildlife and the lake provides for good fishing and all sorts of boat related activities. The camping areas are well laid out and the bathroom facilities are simple but in good condition. Summer time comes with hot and humid conditions at this park so come prepared to enjoy the water to cool off. There is a marina available on the lake; other facilities will take approximately 30 minutes to get to by vehicle.
This state park is off the beaten path and is on the shores of a very good bass fishing lake. Facilities are limited but any types of needed goods or services can be found within a 25 minute drive (town of Okmulgee). The bathroom facilities are outdated and in need of renovation but they are functional. There are many shade trees for campers and any water related activities can be had at the park. A great quiet getaway (except for some weekends) for fishing and relaxing.
A great state park that is clean and is on the edge of Dripping Springs Lake. Access to many facilities (town of Okmulgee) are within a 25 minute drive. Fishing from the shore can be very good; this park does get crowded on summer weekends. There is a playground for the children; the bathroom facilities are in major need of upgrading but are functional.
