I gave it a 5 star for many reasons. First the campground is clean and made us feel like we were in a forest not just a campground. Secondly, the tent sites were completely level with no need to worry about rolling down a hill in my sleep, I slept great. Thirdly, the campground was so close to the nature that we wanted to see. We went to see the falls and they were within walking distance from our campsite. Overall, it was an awesome place to camp. The grounds had paths everywhere and were well kept. I didn’t feel like I was walking in the dirt or through someone’s campsite to get to the bathroom or the playground for the kids. It was our first camping here and in Maryland for that matter, and we would love to go back.

This is one of the darkest places that I have ever been. They go to a lot of trouble to make sure that it stays dark. There are no lights in the bathroom at the campground but that’s a sacrifice for the dark sky and they give out red cellophane to put over flashlights that are too bright. The stars were so bright during our visit that I could probably have counted over 1000. I would love to go back with a telescope when the kids are a little older.

I loved camping here. The camping was great and the amenities were better than any other state park that I have been to. There was a lot of stuff to do swimming, kayaking, hiking and biking. I only wish that we would have taken our bikes. That’s the only thing that would have made the weekend better. The beach and playground are a pretty long walk from the campsite so we drove which I was fine with but walking (if it was a little closer) or biking would have been better for us.

We stayed at a site that was right next to the playground. The kids meet a few new friends and we enjoyed them laughing and playing. The site itself was great big enough for what we needed. Water was close and so was the bathroom. It’s close to the airport so planes would fly over head (pretty high). If that’s not your thing then you might not like the noise but me and the kids loved it. We will definitely go back.
