Cant beat the view of the rocks and bay! Felt lucky to sleep at this gem!
Camping here was a real treat, even through a thunderstorm! Lightning cutting across the lake was a real spook. We brought our kayaks into the water in the sunny part of the day, other camping spots available by boat if you can get there! Fire pits, roomy spot, and apparently cliff jumping! (Our spot has prime access to it, it seemed :)).
Drove to the top around 8 pm with our small hatchback 2WD, no big issue. Crowded closer to the top, this spot doesn't seem to be a secret on a Saturday night in July. Buses and sprinter vans have no issue reaching the top either so beware of large parties. Cool rocky features, and more camping in the woods where you drive in from. Great spot, free, and accessible. Our camp site did have a trash bag hanging from a tree from previous campers, though :(.
Dropped in around midnight on a Friday in the middle of summer and easily found a spot to camp. Coyotes howling, stars amazing, vast space, and beautiful! (Didn't see an obvious place to pay at night and might have ended up at a "free" spot as one reviewer commented before). Worthy for the weary.
