We camped here a few years ago. What can we say- we enjoyed our stay. The sites were spaced nicely and clean. We were there the first of January (off season) so some amenities were not offered but we had an enjoyable time. A short drive to Santa Cruz and Monterey. They have a heated pool, laundry facilities and on site store. There are however some large raccoons so use caution with your trash. Overall good experience camping there.
I grew up going to Lopez since we lived in Santa Maria so maybe I’m biased. Unlike many other campgrounds on the central coast which are a little pricy and have you feeling a little packed like sardines- not so here. There are many types of sites to pick from; tent, rv, group, cabin. Of course we have our favorite “loops” and site within those. The full hookup sites are priced reasonably and you have a good amount of space between you and your neighbor (some are better than others). You are about 15 mins from the beach or 20-30 mins from SLO. The lake has good fishing. The marina store is well stocked with food and tackle. If you go during the summer there are water slides available for an extra charge. There is also an obstacle course and zip line- also an extra charge. I would recommend checking this place out.
Overall this campground is top notch. It’s clean, on site restaurant and store, on site security after hours, pool, beach access, etc. The location is great. A nice walk along the boardwalk down to the pier and shopping. The ONLY issue I have had is the spots are tight. I mean so tight that many times if you open your awning it will hit the RV next to you. So tight your fire pit is oh so close to your neighbors septic dump. There are larger sites in the campground but I believe those are reserved for members. It’s not my favorite campground due to the tightness. It it is cool to be able to walk down to the beach and pier.
Once again we heard about this campground from friends. We had been to the 3 rivers area before to camp but had stayed at another campground. This campground is our go to if we’re camping in Three Rivers. There are creek side full hookup pull through sites, pull through full hook site, back in full hook up and tent sites with raised wooden foundation for a tent. I would recommend this campground. Also the little town of Three Rivers is pretty cool to check out. Also there are a few places to fish and swim in the nearby Kaweah River. The campground is also a good place to stay if you plan on going up to Kings Canyon National park.
We heard good things about this campground from family so we decided to give it a shot. It’s about an hour and 15 minutes from our home in Bakersfield. That road off of the 65 is pretty decent as we have a 32 foot fifth wheel. As usual some sites are better than others there are some creek side sites that are very large and if there’s water are very nice. They have tent only sites as well. On our first trip we stayed in a pull through site. There is not a whole lot of space between campsites in this loop but it’s doable. They also have a stocked pond on site. However if you want to keep any of the fish caught, you have to purchase them. There are trails to hike. FYI, there is no cell reception and no provided wifi. Personally I think that’s a good thing 😬.
